hello people,

I'm just after some advice.
Last week I had a message from a girl asking if I could do her hair the next day, arranged for her to come over for a consultation etc, the next day fitted her hair. I left rows in between, and at the end went back through and scattered some hair through the empty rows.
Today I've had a message from her saying she went to a hairdressers for a wash and blow dry (coinsidentally they offer easilocks hair extensions) and the lady said ive apparently not done my clients hair well. The rows aren't straight (which I know they are as I'm really anal about this) the only thing I can think is that she's looking at the few scattered ones on the empty rows. Also said the hair is probably synthetic And that I've done the micro rings wrong in leaving the tip slightly out above the micro rings.
I'm really upset. I've been doing hair extensions for 1.5 years now, some of my clients are hairdressers and have never had any complaints, and even refer their clients to me!! Also my clients hairdressers have complimented my work before now. I really don't know what to do.
Any advice please?

Thank you

Please, anyone?? X

Aw sorry to hear this, I havnt experienced anything like this as I am new to extensions but understand how this would hurt you.

Has she asked for A refund? Don't let anybody knock you down! If you know yourself that they are neat then I would explain to her that you did all the rows perfect and as you had hair left over rather than leave it out as she had already paid for the hair you like to try and fit as much as possible in so scattered them as you couldn't do a full row with them!

Don't worry about it or let it knock you, they are just being bitchy and probably want her to go to them next time!! Xxx

Some people will slate whatever you do to gain more customers, if the client was satisfied with the fitting and you were then ignore the other hairdresser - she will probably just be trying to gain more extension clients and possibly steal yours.

Thank you guys!! I've been so upset all day due to this. And because it's never happened before I offered to fix the areas she's not happy with it give her a refund of £130 which has taken all my profit + my childcare costs + some of the cost of the hair too, her response was she will get back to me tomorrow.
I even messaged the academy I trained with and they've reassured me too and suggested that I ask to see her tomorrow and if there is no fault with the way it's been fitted then refute the offer of a refund, don't know how well this will go down xx

Hi,

If she has even been to a salon (and isn’t just trying her luck!) and that salon offers hair extensions.. then there’s always the chance that they are just poaching your client? Of course they’re going to say that they can do it better.

On the other hand, you have done all you can. You’ve offered to rectify the issues and even offered her some money back yet she’s being difficult about it? I know it’s easier said than done but I would try not to worry, your loyal clients are obviously happy with their fittings and if your confident you did a good job then there’s not much more you can do.

I also agree with your training academy, if you can’t see any faults then explain that to her. At the end of the day why should you loose money because another salon has said it’s not how they would of fitted it. Everyone’s fitting technique varies, as long as it’s not damaging for the clients natural hair then it shouldn’t be an issue xx

I hope you didn't refund her you done nothing wrong... sounds like the other hair dresser was trying to get a new client . X

Hello lovely people.

Thank you so much for your replies. I spoke to so many people last night and I'm so glad she said she'd get back to me today because it gave me time to clarify things, I've advised her that unless I see her in person to inspect my work - as I can't guarantee it's not been tampered with and check everything is how it should be then no refund will take place. Equally if there are no issues with how it's been done I will not be offerering a refund as I'm not legally obligated to do so. So she said ok she'll let me know when she's free to which I replied ideally I need to see you at some point this weekend. And she said she'd get back to me- if I don't hear from her there's nothing more I can do is there? As I've offered all I can etc xx
