I fitted hair extensions on Friday for a client , who wanted them for her daughters Christening on the Sunday , she went to a salon at 7.45 am I received txts photos , telling me my work unacceptable etc , yesterday the client txt me asking for a full refund , I offered to fix although I have not seen the hair , remove and refund , get someone else to remove , the client refused all offers , stating she wants to keep the hair and get full refund !!
I have been threatened if I don’t pay she will ruin me over social media , accusing me of blackmail ,

This stylist is a make up artist not a hairdresser and certainly not a hair extensions specialist,

Photo on left is my work , apparently photo on right was Sunday morning!!

Just refuse to engage any further. Once she started issuing nasty threats, she’s lost any goodwill in my mind.
Any client with a genuine problem would be happy for you to look at and remove the extensions, if necessary, without resorting to ridiculous threats. Telling you she will ruin you over social media unless you give in to her demands is clearly blackmail so keep screenshots of all messages and then block her.

Even if the service you performed was relatively poor, unless you caused lasting physical harm to her, she has no comeback in law as it’s a case of buyer beware.

Whatever you do, don’t offer any kind of a refund at this stage otherwise she’ll continue to act like a brat in the future when she doesn’t get her own way.

Thank you so much

Why does the hair looked like its been crimped with a iron? Also her hair texture in the second pic is the same as the extensions, it looks like a filter, why didn't she send a real picture? Thats suspicious that she wants to keep the hair. In a court of law, if she hasn't let you seen it or rectify it, then she is in the wrong.

You should put a terms and conditions/privacy policy/refunds and exchange & disclaimer in place

Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will xxxxxxxx, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, suppliers or licensors be liable to any person for (a): any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, cover or consequential damages (including, without limitation, damages for lost profits, revenue, sales, goodwill, use or content, impact on business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, loss of etc etc...

I agree that it’s always sensible to draw up some basic terms of business for the client to be made aware of. However, just to let you know that Disclaimers have no legal standing in English law as protection against prosecution. In fact, they have the opposite effect and can be used as evidence by the plaintiff that the defendant knew that the products or services used could cause harm to the client.

Hi
I do have a terms and conditions form and a disclaimer that she signed also ,

I know I’ve done nothing wrong and basically she couldn’t afford it and now after the Christening she wants her money back

Thank you for your comments has refilled me with confidence again

Is that second picture even the same person? It looks like two different photos altogether! She left you happy with your work yes? Then she should agree to meet you so u can rectify whatever the problem is or leave it alone. That’s disgusting behaviour, state your terms clearly and if she doesn’t want to accept them then tell her she should not contact you again and any social media slurs will be deemed defamation!

I wouldn't worry about the "ruining you on social media" it really won't have that much of an affect.

You don't owe her a refund, especially if she wants to keep the hair. You've offered to fix it and that's what I would do too.

However I would take this as a learning lesson, maybe you would benefit from a bit more training in colour matching? And cutting if you cut the extensions as well. Because in both pictures you can very clearly see where her natural hair ends and extensions start.

I don't think the way she has gone about this is right, but if I was your client and this was the end result I would complain too. X

I did not colour the hair from consultation to fitting it was perfect match , yes a slight different colour on top section which was to light and she had darkened it , and as for cutting it was perfect when I left , so in my professional opinion she has tried to colour it and also cut etc , if you look at any of my previous work colouring , matching and blending is not an issue !
That was not my end result it’s perfectly obvious but thank you for your input
