had my first ever hair extensions put in my hair end of May time they were 22inch micro-clip rings and looked perfect until i went on holiday and got all knotted and 'matte' i seriously could NOT brush/comb through my hair so i had to keep my hair wavy and natural (and up for on the beach).
I still have a few left in (half of them i brushed them out coz it was way too thick and looked ratty)
i paid nearly £200 for these and i wanna know if anyone has ever had the same or similar problem?
and the few extensions i have left in my hair are all matted (if thats the word) and knotty in the centre of my head... ive tried brushing and combing and everything and the knots wont come out! i darent cut them out coz ill have awful bald patches but its awful and feels like a birds nest stuck in my hair!!!!

If the proper aftercare has been followed then the hair is either not cuticle correct or poor quality. You need to go back and get them removed. I'm new to hair extension industry so someone else may be able to help you further

Hi have you spoke to the person that did them so they can have a proper look at them?
Am assuming you were given aftercare advice and have followed it.
I don't do the extensions u have but do bonded racoon extensions. So not 2 sure what kind of hair has been used with yours.
I do warn people tho that are going on hols how much work they are and how sand, sea, chlorine etc can affect them.
I defo wouldn't pull at them but get them properly removed.
Sorry not much more to offer
:(

Definately not cuticle correct (remy) and probably human-synthetic not 100% human. I would get on to the extensionist immediately - this should not happen. You will need them removed properly but if you are unable to do this... get a friend to help, you cant do it alone, you will need a small plier tool, apply pressure to the rings until they go back into a circle shape, then they should slide out. There will be some hair of yours coming out, this is normal to a certain degree as we all lose hair every day so this has just been caught up in the ring, but if you get an excessive amount (clumps - of your hair not extensions) i would find an extensionist who can help you sharpish.
Hope you sort it hun xx

I would never recommend clients to go on holiday with them. Getting chlorine or salt onto them is asking for trouble. You should have been told this? And 22'' is even worse. I would deffo go back and ask her to take them out for you hun dont try and do it yourself! Hope you get it sorted quickly x

Hi,
You need to be going back to whoever fitted them for you, and telling them your problem, they may have no idea youre having problems, and Im pretty sure they would want to know.
If they were ok before you went away, theres an abvious fault with the aftercare youve been giving them, and if you managed to brush half of them out, theres also an abvious fault with the way they were fitted.
Good luck with it.

If the hair feels this bad, it could be either of the following:
-bad quality non remy/human hair
-lack of proper after-care
-if the root area is matted, they may have been left in for more than 3 months

I suggest that you remove them asap and comb the matting out whilst you have conditioner in the hair. Best of luck, you hair is definitely fixable without resulting to cutting xxx

thanks everybody, i have put leave-in conditioner in the past couple days and its starting to help x

i have had this problem. This generally happens when you have poor quality hair extensions. If they are not remy and cuticle correct they can get matted and tangled. It means the cuticles are facing different directions and go really bad. Poor quality hair from China have been put in acid baths to strip the cuticle layer to make them more like european hair, thin and shiny. Then they put silicone on them but this washes off after like 6 washes and leaves the hair looking bad. I once got fitted with really bad quality hair and I could not walk in the wind 2 minutes without it being one big knot! You should go back to the person who fitted them and tell them this as this is not how it should be!!! Nothing really helps at that point. Leave in conditioner can make them better for a bit but poor quality hair can't really be helped.

Also another thing to consider that hasnt been mentioned is £200 for a full head of 22" hair extensions is extremely cheap, as in everything in life you get what you pay for!!!

That is true! I have different price levels so my clients can choose. I always make sure they know that they get what they pay for and the more they pay the better the hair the more it will cost. I always find it weird how most don't want to invest in better quality hair, even though it lasts double as long as the cheaper options so it is actually more worth it in the end. But that is why it is important to offer different options and make sure your client knows that the hair will not last as long as the Russian or Balmain for example. But £200 for a full head of 22' is very cheap!

Hi Glam, sounds like they were not cuticle correct and that why they have matted. I'm pretty good and solving these issues, seems to be lots of dodgy fittings going on in the north from poorly trained technicians - if you would like a professional removal and in the future a better fittings from someone who offers support throughout the wear then feel free to get in touch xx

Glambabe, where a bouts in the north east did you get your hair done? Xx
