hi there, I’ve been having micro bond hair extensions since Oct 2017 and recently trained in them myself.
I’ve got very fine hair, I’m talking baby thin thickness but is also bad condition ie split ends.
Anyway at my last maintance my hair had visibly got thinner, I only have 50 strands as I have them for thickness.
I’m shocked at how thin my hair has got, I expected to think it had got thinner but it 100% has.
Why have they made my hair thinner?
Incorrect fitting?
I thought I’d finally found a solution to my awfully thin fine hair!
Any advice and tips greatly appreciated.

For extremely fine hair micro ring application is not the most ideal, even if it's only 50 strands. Also incorrect fitting can cause a lot of trouble, if the strands are fitted too close/tight to the scalp, or not enough hair has been pulled through with the extension, all these cause trauma to the scalp which can easily lead to hair loss. Have you thought of trying a different method, maybe wefts or tapes?

I agree with the above, Micro rings should never be used on extremely fine hair. Nano rings or Tape, depending on how fine the hair is though. xx

I use micro rings on fine hair without any problems but wouldn’t use Nano on fine hair.

Have you had consultation and trial strand fitted before application?

The very people who really want hair extensions are more often the ones who should not be having them!

In my experience as a hairdresser, clients who have fine hair to start with ALWAYS end up with....finer hair.
Their fine hair cannot take the weight of the additional hair attached to it.....often causing
Traction Alopecia.

The bond itself get's in the way..., making it impossible to really get to the scalp and clean/massage/brush/stimulate it....
All of these actions are needed to bring fresh blood to the area, providing nourishment to the hair bulb and scalp, in order to produce a healthy hair!

I wouldn’t use nanos on really fine hair either, tapes I think would be best for u. Fast turn around for installs too so u can keep an eye on the condition of your hair. Do u always put the extensions in the same place? Moving the rows up or down on each install means you’re not constantly using the same sections of hair so gives it a rest between installs x
