I have had some hair extensions fitted in a Sunderland salon. I attended the salon 3 times in total, first time to get a colour match, second time the salon confirmed they didnt have my hair colour in and require extra money from me. The third time was to have my hair fitted. As expected I wasnt happy with the overall service to start with.

I attend the salon and sat for 4 hours, after 200 bonds the salon confirmed my hair was finished. Only to look in the mirror to see the state my hair was in, I have thick hair but I wouldnt say extremly thick and also as a hair salon and 2 consultations they should of realised the thickness of my hair. My hair has large parts which have no extensions attached and is clearlly visable and embarrasing.

When asking the girl in the salon what was happening with my hair, she confirmed the owner would contact me later that day and arrange for more hair to be ordered, never mentioned money at all and in my 2 consulations I was never advised that only 200 bonds were included in the price!!!

Waited all day the owner did not ring me, so I contacted her my self the following day via her facebook salon page. She then made out it was all my fault, that only 200 bonds were included in the price I paid, as stated I was never told this after hours of sitting in her salon. She confirmed that my hair could be sorted but at my cost as it was my fault for having thick hair. Then she confirmed I wasnt allowed to contact her out of salon hours, eventhough this wasnt her personal facebook it was actually the salons page.

I took matters into my own hands contacted a Solicitor and trading standards, sent her a letter requesting a refund or I would even be happy with a part refund. I then recieved a letter from her husbands debt recovery firm acting as a Solicitor stating that I shall not be getting any refund of the sort!!

Could someone who works in hair extensions or in a salon please help me????

A debt recovery firm has NO stance whatsoever to comment on legal matters pertaining to you claiming your cash from them. They are only onvolved if you owe money not the other way around hun.

I would follow it up with the solicitor - your consultation should have included evverything from elasticity tests on your natural, colour matching, hair type, thickness etc right through to whether you swim regular or wear protecive headgear for work.

Has the salon or stylist who fitted your hair got the relevant qualifications to do so? Also the correct insurance? Worth looking into hun for sure.

A reputable extensionist would have never left you with this issue in the first place :(

Could you perhaps also put a pic up of the extensions - perhaps someone would be able to advise of a extensionist near you who could rectify it for you? xx

 Only 200 bonds.... I usually have 300/400 when I have extensions. Seems like owner is trying to intimidate you. Be firm and I hope you get sorted out.
