Ok guys and gals my panic has started ! I have been cutting a clients hair for a year or so and she has often spoken about colouring it but as she's 80% grey I have managed to talk her out of it !!! now she is determind she wants it done !!!

She is about 80% white/grey and a base of about a 4, very salt and pepper, I use Koleston adn was thinking of using something like 44/0 and doing lots of fine foils, what do you all think ??? I have looked and looked for pics to look at to get an idea of how this will look but cant find anything, in all the hundreds of years of me hairdressing I have only done full coverage with a few scattered foils on grey hair but as she wants ot be low/no maintenance I cant do this with her.

What overall effect are you trying to create? 44/0 will just make it look the same but darker and quite harsh!

when my Mum was about 30% white with a short layered style I used to pull her hair through a cap and colour that with a shade lighter than her original colour. It meant she wasn't as grey but it still looked fairly natural as there were some white hairs still showing, but if your client has 80% white hair you are always going to get a noticable regrowth no matter how fine you do them - it also depends on the style if its curly or layered the regrowth won't notice as much but if it is straight with a strong parting it will show. maybe you could talk her into having foils with a semi just to show her how it will look? that way if she hates it, it will wash out?:Scared:

She's too tight to pay out for anything that wont last ! she has her hair fairly messy (on purpose !), no parting, I've told her that if she doesnt like it she will have to have the foils but just less and less of them each time. Oh dear, I dont want to do it but she lives just across the road so I dont really have a choice !!! What about 44/0 and 55/0 alternate so it doesnt look sooo hard ???

Or I'd prob do 44/0 + some gold to add tone and take the harshness off! Like 5/73+44/0 or just literally put the colour chart out in front of her and say what colour do you want/like! Then it cAnt come back on you as she chose it x

Hi there.

I would offer her a full head Color Touch Plus, shade 66/03 or 66/07
Tell her it will not completely cover the grey but will have a natural translucent look. If she decides to try it and likes it, you could then do it again but next time go darker using 44/07. Or alternatively you can then offer her the full permanent tint.

Thank all for the replies, She wont have any full coverage even if its a semi and she's certainly to mean to have regular upkeep ! why do I get em ! she even thinks that the £50 quid I'm charging is soooooooooooooo expensive. I'll report back when I'v done it ! x
