:pHi Geeks,

I hope you can offer me a lil advice.

I used to have a red bob for 2 years, obviously the dye and heat takes it toll and my hair was ruined fried to the max!!

I had it cut like frankie sandford, short one side long fringe on the other to get the dead away.

I straighten my hair every other day, I use heat protection and serum and my hair is still being destroyed.

Is there anything I can do to stop this. I get it trimmed and it looks great and then after a week it looks dead and feel awful.

I do need to straighten it as it looks hideous all big and frizzy but like I said I only do it once every other day :/

I use a conditioning treatment everytime i wash my hair.

My hair used to be down near my butt and in perfect condition and I got it cut short and it seems Im never going to be able to grow it again as the condition is horrendous and I have to keep cutting it back.

Any advice would be great.

Sorry for the rant, just thought u guys would b the best ppl to ask x x

Im no hairdresser but i had the same problem a couple years ago (detroyed my hair with bleach) I spent a small fortune on treatments from the hairdressers and boots but nothing seemed to help, in the end I went to the health food shop and got some pure coconut oil (not the refined kind), its solid but just put some into a bowl and melt it in the microwave for a few seconds, then soak your hair in it, I prefer to put it on dry hair as it seems to soak the oil up more, I leave it on for as long as possible ( covered in clingfilm) then give it a good wash out and normal conditioner...... it saved my hair and now put it on once every couple of weeks just to help with the dryness as I too straighten my hair a lot... hth x

Ahh I wil go and buy some then and see how it goes. Just seems to me no matter what I do with my hair it just gets damaged really bad. I thought by cutting it short and not using heat all the time it might grow healthy :/

Thank you will defo try that one x x :p

Deep fuel by redken is also a lifesaver!! X

Hi,

My friend just bought me some leave in Argan Oil spray (Moroccan oil) and it's fab. Leaves hair really soft and smooth, non greasy and protects from heat damage. Also using it keeps colour in your hair longer. Really recommend it. She got it from Sally's. If you have one in your area go and check it out, if not, they have an online shop. It's called Miracle 10. HTH xx

Thank you girls!! I will try all of them. Anything to try and sort out this mop.

:Scared: x x x

What straighteners do you use? I've seen some terrible damage done to people's hair that have bought fake GHDs around Xmas time. Also get a really good heat protect spray, I love Tigi S Factor Flat Iron spray on dull dry hair as it makes it really shiny as well as protecting it from heat as well. Hope it gets better!x

I use babyliss ones only brought them last month, they are like a purple pearly effect colour. x x

Moroccan Oil is great for protection, shine and building strength - its not the cheapest but it is the best. x

Id recommend Joico K-pak deep penetrating reconstructor, its an amazing protein treatment that will really help strengthen your hair,

For conditioning - Boots ingredients coconut and almond intensive masque, its silicone free, so its not just coating your hair, it actually does nourish and condition it and its soooo cheap! Its like £2 a tub!!

Avoid heat at all costs!! - try leaving your hair to dry naturally.

If you really cant bear that then blow dry on a low heat when hair is 80-90% dry, use heat protection and set your straighteners to the lowest heat you possibly can - also cut down on the amount of times you straighten your hair each week.

Start trying out different ways of styling your hair to avoid excessive heat treatment - i.e i have the same haircut and if my fringe goes wavy overnight i pin it up into a quiff and secure with grips - it looks nice, means i dont have to reach for the straighteners and it helps me preserve the condition of my hair. HTH

I dont have the option of having a diff haircut,i have a frankie sandford style - 1side long 1side short. I have tried to pin my fringe away but looks rediculous lol might see what my hairdresser can do :)

I dont mind spending money on products that actually will work so will look into all suggested :)

Thank you x x

Have to agree with Planky1. I started using argan oil a few months ago. I have fine thin hair prone to damage on the ends. I also colour and syraighten my hair every day. The argan oil has made such a difference. I got 100mls for £10 from ebay. You can also add it to ur hair dye when u colour ur hair.
