Hi peeps,
I have had my hair done by my friend tonight (she is training as a hairdresser just now). I used to get my hair done (grey roots and occ comb through) a nice medium brown with warm tones. My hairdresser used Wella koleston 6/73 - we picked this together. I don"t know now if she maybe mixed it with anything. So my friend used this tonight on my roots and it's come out really quite light compared to the rest. She was talking about fixing it with a darker colour on top but I'm a bit wary. I would just go to a salon (my old hairdresser is 300 miles away as I moved!) but skint as not started my new job yet. Also worried about just buying a box dye. Any tips? It's like almost the right kinda colour just a couple shades too light. Wondered if it was cause of the grey? Have quite a bit of grey. Eek - also don't want my poor friend to lose faith so thought I'd do some digging. Thank you in advance!!!

What percent peroxide did she use

Amy's hairdressing

She said 6% 20vol of wellxon.
I've told her I've posted on the web to ask for help.
She said she used it in equal measures.
Think she's as gutted if not more than I am!!

If she's training;

1. Why not go into the college and be her model? She can still re-do your hair but under supervision and might even get some of the service assessed.

2. Is she insured to undertake chemical services on someone outside of college/salon environment? I think cutting practice on friends is a bit safer but probably best to leave any chemical services until fully qualified.

Just a minor point, but she should always measure her tint mix using scales and never guess the quantities. From your description, it was unclear if she did this. It's very bad practice not to measure properly but some hairdressers still just guestimate.

Ok we all know why it appears lighter/translucent, but can not advise a non pro. If your friend is still training she really shouldn't be colouring any body's hair without supervision. If money is tight go to your local college as a model.
