For the first time in my hairdressing career have i had to give a full refund! Not only did i know the client in question on a personal level, i just felt so bad. Nehoo i used opti smooth for years and used various straightening smoothing treatments in the past, so feel confident doing the treatment. I stopped one of my hairdressers so i could do it, this was the first time i had someone have such a bad reaction, not only did we strand test, skin allergy test, used an ammonia free sensitized and ammonia free dye, as you can do the same using coloursync when doing the cold service.

Two days later client calls up nearly in tears, her hair was already a bit dry with a build up of colour but this had gone fluffy, almost texture like afro caribbean hair, i ask did she stick to aftercare, nope.....OMG!!! So shes been using other products, then her daughter proceeds on telling me that "other professionals" are saying whatever i did was wrong!!

Now im quite annoyed but due to the fact this client's hair hasnt taken, but im more annoyed that i know her, and feel as though i lost my confidence ever so slightly from it, i couldnt sleep all weekend thinking about it! I had spoken to l'oreal twice and was reassured that what i did was correct, they are baffled to the reaction this client has had and put it down to medicine/aftercare.

Anyone else have any weird reactions that baffle you?? Thanks xoxo

If she didn't stick to aftercare then that's her fault, I personally wouldn't of given a full refund. I give my clients all the advice and aftercare they could possible need even so much that I include a take home kit suitable if I do colour correction of hi fashion colours, reds etc then I have covered myself. If they choose not to follow my advice, that's tough lol

Just a follow up as i just answered a similar thread.
Thank you bluerinse for answering! Although i felt bad, i found out later that she kinda scammed me!(she wanted free treatments! I actually regret giving her a refund, should of stuck to my guns!)
She intentionally didnt follow the aftercare that she had brought, (used hair stripping shampoos and treatments, when she was not supposed to). I had given the client an additional £30 worth of products were given as a goodwill gesture, purely as i know this lady in question, her hair rapidly went back to normal.

I was so worried but when i found this out i was pretty annoyed, the ppl that you know the most will take the mick, regardless if they dont follow aftercare. Im stressing that while all procedures are correct the AFTERCARE is essentially important! xoxo
