Hair qualifications in australia

looking into migrating to oz and noticed a nvq level 2 is not classed as 'qualified' out there.Im really reluctant to do my level 3 as its two years and to be quite honest with you i know everything they teach ya in a level 3 and alot more!
Is there away around it? or a course i can do when i get there.

Hi you might find your best bet is to search for oz sponsors I'm hairdressing and see if they will sponsor you to work over there and get your nvq 3 while over there or their equivalent. I'be been looking in to this as I want to move their but they are not looking for nail techs over their but they are looking for hairdressers. Good luck and would love to know how you get on over there

That's interesting I thought hairdressers were off the list, when did they go back on? Better get me visa sorted lol!

Yes it is!
NVQ Level 2 is the equivilant to Cert 3 in Aus terms!

I emigrated 4 years ago, got all my paperwork together, evidence of my apprentiship, certificates etc. A paid about $150 or a bit more to get my papers recognised.
No employer actually asked to see this evidence mind you.... but its just so save your own bum i guess!
They train for 5 years over there, so at 19 I was paid at as a qualified stylist, but had people much older still not allowed to do ladies cuts, they wernt a huge fan!

i dont know if you go on but British Expatriate Community : British Expat Community , is a great forum for anyone emigrating .. we use4d it a lot to get info when we were doing our visas etc.. for canada , i know there is a brill job forum on there for oz , also one by tradeso you can search for hair jobs .. good luck xxx
