Hello Geeks,

I am unsure if this should go in the skin geek catergory or the Chit Chat but im sure if Im wrong someone will move it for me.
I have previously posted on here about laser hair removal and the price, what areas are covered and things like that.
I have been looking more and more into laser hair removal as I shave my bikini line (all of it) and when the hair grows back its either ingrown or so itchy its horrific. I have tried waxing in the past but Ive never had the courage to wax the whole thing. Anyway I like the idea of all of it gone for a very long time (I understand IPL may not be forever)
I have been calling around my local salons for pricing and have notice some salons offer a full hollywood for the best part of a grand, some salons do not offer a full hollywood and some are too cheap to be any good.
I will be honest in saying I didnt realise how expensive it would be as the bikini line will just be the start of it... I will then move on to underarms, back, legs, toes, arms etc.
So then I started looking into at home lasers, like the 'Philips SC2003/11 Lumea Precision Plus' I have read reviews on its sister model and some people say it works some people say it doesnt. Although majority say it does. The newer model which im interested in doesnt have many reviews as its fresh out.
I am just wondering if any fellows geeks have tried an at home system like the Philips Lumea and whether it was successful or not?
I am sure some of you will say you will only get better results from going to a salon, I am aware of this however its extremely expensive and to buy an at home machine for the half the price could do all my areas.

Thanks x

Just to be clear, this will only be for use on myself. I do not wish to do Laser professionally x

hi there i just looked at the home laser you are thinking of purchasing having been trained in laser im not too sure what the 'home laser' would be like i would imagine it would take a very long time to achieve the same results (if any result) compared to a professional laser machine, so i would be a bit apprehensive buying this type of equipment from the likes of boots and argos etc

however most professional laser clinics offer a payment scheme for laser packages so it can be more affordable for the client i would go to a local laser clinic for a consultation (some clinics offer these for free) and speak to them about the treatment and if they offer any of these schemes :wink2: x

I purchased the Remington iLight Pro this past February. It is a home laser hair removal system that lasts up to 6 months. I purchased it at Ulta which is like a Sephora. I live in the US. This laser has several different settings to it. It's not really painful to the skin, just like a slight pinch. I used this 3 times on my armpits before summer. I think it recommends to use it 5 times at the highest level for the full benefit of hair removal for 6 months. I have very dark hair and a medium complexion. You use it after shaving. Anyway, I rarely have to shave my armpits still. The last time I used it was around May. I couldn't figure out why I didn't need to shave my armpits anymore when it dawned on me why. It was definitely worth the money. There are other models that give you permanent hair removal such as the Tria. The model I bought was half the price of the Tria. I plan on using it on other areas to like my bikini line and lower legs. It is time consuming but really worth. The more offer you use it the better the results. Hth
