Hair toning help please

I'm having a nightmare with my hair and dont know where to ask. I have dark brown hair with a silver balayage. Once the silver was on my hairdresser realised my roots were too warm and made the silver look odd. So she dyed my roots a darker brown which now looks warmer than before.

My question is, how do I tone the brown hair without sending my light hair blue or some other colour? I know I should be asking my hairdresser but she's got to correct me hair after a bad balayage and I'm losing faith in her advise.

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to make the best of my hair but I'm running out of ideas.

Maybe try another hairdresser who specialises in colouring?
