I'm a new student but I saw something like that in my text book. When you curl it you drag the curling iron along the hair and take a comb and push the hair in a zig zag pattern. Sorry if it's not the best explanation :)

Foil!!
Place the hair on a pice of foil and fold it up (imagining how it will fall when foil is removed) and heat foil with hair straighteners!! And you should get a cute zig zag!!
I have done a hole head of this be for and it worked a treat xx

Love it! I'm trying that myself !!

Does the piece of hair need to be any particular thickness??

Ok, get a piece of foil and make it into a long flat ruler shape, then bend it in half. Weave a section of hair around the Foil if that makes sense and then clamp the straighteners around the foil. ( wider the foil bigger the zig zag).

Hi i use a very slim hair wand and this gives this type of curl. Also i have wrapped a section of hair around a barbeque skewer and held ghds over, the heat sets a springy curl lol.x

Bendable pipe cleaner, shape into v and weave hair stand in and out and apply heat

Depends on desired look!! Have a play and you will see I tend to do thiner sections xx

One of the girls in my old Salon, used to prefer Zig Zag type curls,We used to do her Perm on saved/used Tint tubes instead of rollers,The effect was great..was quite a talking point with clients too :) If you can get them to stay in and resist the heat you can use just about anything to set with !

Iv done this with kirby grips, open up a clip, and wrap the hair round like a figure of 8 then heat it up a little with irons, you can also do a tiny little curl if you wrap round a tail comb.
Takes ages but looks fab
The foil sounds great too, good luck, let us know how you get on x x

Thanks everyone! Great ideas!
I have done it with a tail comb for thR tiny curls they are great!
Also looking at the pic again how would u put that up I have an idea in mind just wanna see what u guys think? X

You can get a crimping iron with wavy plates - from the photo it looks to me like they were used - they have a really rounded zig and zag! I think they have some on offer at aston and fincher.
