Hey,
I'm currently at college studying hair and beauty, we study hair but have to cover beauty services too..
Could someone please tell me what the rules are about beauticians not wearing nail varnish and the rules about makeup?
you would be doing me a huge favour
Thanks!! x

The only rules I was ever told was that they should be tasteful and fashionable.

Sure. Good luck with classes :D

when training in beauty we weren't aloud to wear nail polish incase clients were allergic to it (thats what we were told anyway lol) and also it looks scruffy because so many of the products you use will remove it/ chip it, and we had to wear natural make up and hair back off our faces all the time :D have fun! x

It is supposed to be minimal and tasteful but judging by the state of some of the beauty therapists at my local college, I think they are quite lax!
I've had beauty therapists apply for jobs at my salon and some of them look awful.
False OTT lashes, bad hair extensions, far too much make-up.
I wear nail polish all the time, I have nice natural lash extensions and i never leave the house without my make-up on but it is tasteful.
I did tell one of my hairdressers that if she was going to work at my salon then she would have to do something with her eyebrows-lol
As a salon owner I expect my staff to look presentable. I have no problem with make-up as long as it's tasteful. I wouldn't allow great thick false lashes that look like spiders.
I allow nail polish too although I do like them to have their nails done at the salon with our products so that they can promote them, which surprisingly they don't object to

We ask all our students to have hair tied back, natural looking make-up, no nail polish, students can wear small studs and a wedding band.
These are also guidlines by our awarding body.

Hope this helps
