I am naturally brunette, light brown. My hairdresser dyes it blonde with highlights.
Every time she does my roots something awful happens - either she literally just bleaches them so the roots are bleach and the rest is blonde, or she just puts a colour on which turns my hair ginger at the roots.
At the moment I am sporting ginger roots, blonde hair. She told me to use my purple shampoo all week and that would lift the ginger to blonde. Well it didn't, and now my highlights are white and my roots are still ginger.
She told me that I must have a lot of red pigment in my hair (!!) and that I need to forget the highlights and just go for a base colour blonde and lowlights. She says the base isn't lifting light enough due to me having a lot of red pigment.
I should add, I've had my hair done at salons previously and it never went this way, and my hairdresser has done it before without it going ginger, so I think she is making excuses as I have asked her to fix it for free.
When my hair was it's natural colour, it was a light browny blonde, no red at all.
Any advice?
