I've been dyeing my hair for years, either a dark red or a dark brown.

I just recently managed to get the red undertones out of my hair, but then couldn't resist dyeing it red yet again!!!! which i did today!!!

although my hairdresser (mobile) is always telling me that tint on tint will go darker i never listen!! :o

so now yet again i have vibrant red roots and dark ends.

it isn't awful, and doesn't need desperately changing, but it is bugging me that my roots are a lighter red than my ends.

would I be able to achieve a lighter red if i was to use Boot's "Colour B4" and then to re-dye my hair so it would be a lighter red?

would appreciate any replies :) xxxxxxx

Your more likely to get the no hair look if you attempt something of this nature yourself, you need a professional in a salon to do this for you with professional products, we can't give you advise on anything like this if your a non hair professional. Sorry

I used colourb4 on my hair last week as i was light brown with blonde highlights and then stupidly decided to go "slightly" darker! Ended up practically black! So slapped some colourb4 on and it has went back to a mousy brown colour and going to go for more highlights within the next few weeks. My sister on the other hand has had her hair every colour possible and used colourb4 and went ginger! So I would suggest going to a hairdressers just to be on the safe side. x

Maybe not colour B4 then :p

thanks for your help :) xxx

Oh no! i was just about to post a similar question!

a friends daughter has just used colour b4 and is now bright orange...she wants to be blonde obviously :|
I said i wouldn't touch it till i'd researched possible reactions...oops, its not looking good is it?!
Has anyone had any success in correcting over colour b4??

thanks Persianista, think i might do some test pieces just so i can see what happens for myself! can't believe how evil this stuff is!
she wants it sorting for the weekend so i won't have chance to go get a non-oxidising toner...think i'll just leave well alone...once i've stolen some hair to test!

If i used colourb4 a few weeks ago, am I ok to get full head highlights done next week? x

Hiya,
Go to your hairdressers and make sure that you are completely honest about what you have used on your hair, ask them if you can have a strand test before your appointment so that your you and your hairdresser can see the results first. x x x

Colour reductors should be pro only IMO. As the above poster found out, the moment you put an oxidant on it, it will react. If you are very lucky your hair will go black. If you are unlucky it will get hot, start smoking and give you third degree burns.

I have personally seen these reactions, and been burnt by them while getting them off a head.

Really, unless you know what you are doing you can seriously wreck your hair, scalp and face.

Totally agree.
I don't think non pros sometimes don't realise that these are chemicals they are messing about with!
And chemicals and untrained people are never a good mix. x

Have just come back from the salon, where my niece turned up having played with this bloody stuff.

Her hair is normally brunette, quite a lot of it and very glossy.

I have just cut it all off. It looked like a bad overprocessed perm, kinda soggy chewing gum. She has never had curly or frizzy hair, but that is how it looked.

I just gave her a short haircut, and to be truthful, I showed her hair the scissors and it fell off, my scissors didn't make a sound.

She has now been read the riot act.

Gosh i wish someone had read me the riot act back in my teenage days when i decided to dye my naturally base 9 hair black, cry and try to get it out by bleaching it 5 TIMES in 2 days. Pixie cut at 14 = i was not happy!!!

I do have a pink style crop now though and at 25 i love it lol :)
