What are the duties of a junior stylist with an NVQ level 2 in hairdressing?

Depends whether they are ready to go on the floor? Some salons don't permit the junior stylist to go on the floor straight away after qualifying.

Our salon expects junior stylists to bring in models to practise on.
Cleaning duties, towels, drinks etc.
Assisting stylists/colourist passing up foils etc, holding hair dryer, curling iron & straighteners.

Putting them on the price list so they can gradually get bookings.

Thank you for your response, I qualified in April and since this I haven’t been allowed to do clients until it suits their needs. Now they’re wanting to re train me

I think some salons don't care about the NVQ, they want to train you to their standards which is normal, but they should of done that before you qualified and was an assistant & junior. Sorry to hear this x

It’s only been 5 months so if you’re only level 2 qualified, maybe you’re not ready yet to work on paying clients? What feedback have they given you so far on your work? Have they discussed a plan to get you on the floor within the next 6 months?

We don’t know what your work is like so they might be justified in holding off giving you your own clients for a bit longer but I’d expect them to be supporting you and giving you lots of training opportunities and regular feedback.
