Help me - strand test

Hiya guys!! Another colour dilemma!! I have another new client that wants to go from a base 4/5 to a "Xxl live red" how am I gunna do it?? She is coming tomorrow for me to take some samples of her hair so i can test it! But has anyone found a colour or method that means maybe not stripping it before? X

is it virgin base? or tinted? if tinted, you cant lift tint with tint, so its the stripper im afraid! why so scared of stripper? use a good one and follow the rules, and you'll be fine xx

Sorry I didn't make that very clear! Her base is 4/5 tinted! With caramel highlights! Im trying to keep costs down for her really! That's why I didn't want to have to use the stripper unless desperate! And also she doesn't understand what I'm saying, I can't put it on all over as it will just make the root red on nowhere else I have tried explains this to her but she doesn't get it!! New clients are a pain!!!!! X
