Hi, I was wondering if any hair pro's could help me.

A friend of mine had her hair coloured on tuesday and last night (friday) started with an allergic reaction to something. Itching and redness on the wrists which has spread to the legs and tummy and is creeping upwards.

She had an antihistamine which seemed to help abit but it has now come back worse. Is it possible that this could be a delayed reaction from the hair colour? I thought if it was the colour it would have happened sooner and more on the face? Is it possible to react days later?

Shes getting abit worried so any info would be much appreciated, thanks xx

Reaction to hair dye is usually swelling of the face, itchy burning scalp, eye swell and close up.
She should see her GP anyway as she is clearly unwell.

Yeah i thought that was the case, it must be something else. Thank you for your help x

I am allergic to hair dye and usually get an itchy scalp more or less straight away, then my scalp will appear raw and burned which will then scab over, my ears will also burn. And usually have some facial swelling.
I dont usually get any rashes any where else apart from my head.
If the reaction is getting worse I advise your friend to visit her GP for some antibiotics as well as antihistamines, if any swelling occurs they can also give her steroids. Good luck.

Thanks Rachael, luckily it seems to be all settling down now. It must have been due to something else hopefully we'll find out what. Thanks again xx
