Hi there,

My first post and looking for help... My client (long time shellac wearer) has this bugger of a longitudinal split which I am failing to figure out what to do with it to protect it as it grows out.

.I would really appreciate any advice on this.. She has brittle nails and is an older client but this is wrecking my head.....thanks in advance..

Hi
Do you do acrylics?

Have you tried IBX? Xx

Hi blossom, I don't.... Do you think they would help? I have cnd enhancements which I was slow to use..

I'd do an acrylic overlay on that one and just carry on shellacking

Ok...i really appreciate the reply..

I don't do acrylic but I can send her elsewhere for that and continue with the shellacking.. . I hate the fact I may have caused it at some stage plus she's such a loyal customer.. But it has become a nuisance. Do you know why it would happen?

I would get fiberglass or silk wraps. Apply shellac base coat, cure, apply wrap cut to the nail size, apply another coat basecoat but work it into the wrap and cure. This will hold it together until the next appointment. Hope this helps :)

Has it appeared suddenly?
One of my ladies has something similar looking on one nail, but she wallopped the matrix with a hammer [emoji33] whilst DIYing and it's been like it since then, although it does grow out and looks ok, then if she knocks it again, back it comes

It does look as if you'll need to protect it for 3 or 4 months, until it's grown right our

See that makes sense to me.. She was doing diy a while ago and her nails can be delicate so she could have hit it a whop... And naturally thought nothing of it..

Answers have been super.. Thanks so much, I'm feeling waaay more positive about it!! You guys rock!!!

I'd too do a silk or fibreglass wrap and then shellac ontop. Will give protection and but not be as bulky as an acrylic overlay and so match the other nails.
