I fitted a set of weave extensions on a girl a few days ago. The weave when first fitted can feel quite tight and tender and can take a few days to settle down. I explained this to her and made her aware of that. She contacted me yesterday (3 days after fitting) to ask if it was normal for it to be sore still and said she felt it was a itchy too. I get the weave in myself and it can take me 4-5 days to get used to it and I do find it itchy between the track and I know some clients do as well so I explained that to her. She replied saying that there are little red bits on her scalp so I asked her to come see me as soon as she can for me to have a look. I have no idea what could be causing the red bits, anyone any idea?

hiya i sometimes get the weave in my hair and yes always feels too tight and sore lol especially at night and it would be itchy and when i would get wee red marks from where iv scratched it so i think thats where they will come from i used to offer weave extensions but i just stick with the bonds and rings now as too many people were saying how sore it was just try and assure her that it will settle down x

Thanks hun - I am 99% certain it is just because she has never had it before and isn't used to it but she is panicking and I am worried that she is going to come tonight and say she wants it out or wants her money back. What would I do in that situation? I have recommended Boots Expert Treatment for Itchy and Sensitive Scalp to hopefully give her relief. I know myself It took me a week to get used to my first weave.

defo no money back she was told it would be uncomfortable to start with just reasure her that it can take up to a week for it to settle i know with mines it was always about a week i fitted them in my friend few months back and she said she had to take painkillers lol thats why i stopped the weave as it needs to be really tight and i just thought it isnt very good for the hair with all the tension if she comes back in have a look and tell her its red from her scratching and if she can leave it a week or 2 and its still as sore then she should think about having them removed but explain all the aftercare and explain that all extensions no matter what method are always uncomfortable to begin with at no point offer a refund as its not your problem thats like someone getting nail extensions then thinking oh these are uncomfortable and going getting a refund xxx

Thanks for your advice hun, I'm finding it difficult to know how to deal with some clients and where to draw the line. One client has 5 rows and 2 packets of wefted hair woven in. Now you know it can be difficult to place 5 rows in some client's heads with their parting and thickness of hair etc. Well at the time we discussed the rows and her parting, we cross checked several times that she would be able to hide the 5th row (her hair is a side parting) and it was gorgeous when finished, no sign of any track or braid. Now she has asked how long it would take to put it back a bit as it is starting to annoy her. I just feel that after the length of time taken at fitting to make sure it was placed correctly it is a bit cheeky to expect me to spend an hour removing the hair and braid, deciding where to replace the braid, rebraiding and then re-sewing braids back together and hair back in. What do you think I should say to her? Is it good customer service to do this or should I charge her? x

definately recharge her 5 rows is quite a lot isnt it her head must feel like it weighs a ton lol i was finding it hassle with the tracks and to hide them as its more bulky than the bonds or rings as soon as i started doing the bonds and rings i thought this is so much better and you cant feel the bonds or rings as such in the hair where as u can feel exactly where the rows are plus its harder to do several colours with the rows unlike the bonds and rings would you consider changing methods maybe also do you have disclaimer forms i have them and talk clients through everything and have them sign it and it states if the client changes mind bout the extensions or wants to add or remove some then they will be charged for this unless it is my fault x

We use bonds as you can't wash properly with weaves which leaves dead flaky skin you can't wash out of your hair! Natural hair loss also gets trapped until weave is released!
The red bits are probably from where it has pulled quite alot and if she's not been looking after them properly and being rough it's probably pulled some of her hair out!
You can also get a form of alopecia from this which is from constant pulling!
Hair extensions are always advised not to replace in the same place but to move the extension in a different area each time to prevent this!
