Help with job interview presentation!

Hi,

I really need some help, I have a job interview next week for a beauty trainer role and I need to do a prsentation in my interview!! It can be on anything I like! Was wondering if anyone has had to do this before and if you have any tips or advice for me! :?:

I had to do this for my job as a trainer. I think they chose the subject for me.
I had to do 15 min microteach on retail. I could do what I wanted! So as I have experience in retailing to clients I did a "do's and don'ts" of retailing. I aimed it towards therapists who needed help with sales.

Make sure you are prepared, I had to do a powerpoint and I had it on a disc and a usb just incase one didnt work! I got there and neither worked because of thier software! BUT.... I had also printed out several handouts of my presentation which I had given to the people observing so I wasnt stood there trying to do it from memory! Although I didnt show them I could use powerpoint they were impressed that I had backup so that is something to think about.

Do they want you to do a demo? In a previous presentation I did I had to do a demo so made sure i was prepared again with handouts and powerpoint but with equipment as well.
Topics could be anything but I know what its like when you are trying to decide, so heres a few I would consider:

How to look after skin
How a certain product works(if you are going to work for a product house make sure you research the product)
Theory of a treatment
Quick intro to the skin
How to cleanse
Retail
Painting a nail

Options are endless!

Remember, be prepared in every way and know what you are doing inside out! Practice inthe mirror, to a friend, boyfriend, mum, dad, etc!!

Thank you for reply! You have given me a few ideas about what to do
I still feel confused about how to start off. They have asked me to do a presentation on anyhing I like for five to ten minutes and thats was all they said, I haven't been given any other information!
Is a presentation the same as a micro teach?

pretty much yeah! well they havemt given you long so you need something simple otherwise you could find yourself wanting to keep on going once you get started!
maybe something like how to cleanse the face correctly and give a handout with a diagram and instructions or take a product with you and pass it around as you explain how to use it.
I would start by introducing yourself and your topic, eg
"Hello, my name is ???? and today I will be showing how to use this eye cream." Talk about how and when to use it, encourage your audience to try it on their hands. I would finish with something like "to summarise you would use this here and when. Any questions? Thankyou for you time"
Be preapred for any questions on the topic you choose, always a good idea to let them ask questions as in a training role you will get asked loads so it will give them chance to see how you cope answering random questions! Again handouts are great, even though its only a short presentation it shows you are prepared and can refer to student notes.
Choose your topic and right out notes on what you want to say and then time yourself.
