Hi everyone - I'm after some advice.

My hair is naturally a mousey brown & I've been having half a head of highlights for a few years now (norm 2 blondes & 1 brown). It always washes up to be a block colour.

I'm starting to go grey & now have to get it coloured every 6 weeks or so as opposed to the 8+ I used to.

I'm considering buying an all over permanent colour from the chemist as I can't really afford to keep going to the hairdressers as regularly as I have been so just wondered if you could give me advice on:-

(a) which make you would recommend using
(b) if this will destroy my hair
(c) will this make my natural hair (that hasn't been highlighted) a different colour to the highlighted hair giving me a mix of colours - which isn't what I want.

I don't mind being one colour all over - just want to make sure I don't have a hair disaster.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you so much in advance for any tips/advice.

As this is a professional forum full of professional hairdressers we will not advise you on any box colours. We will always advise you to go to a salon x

If you have a lot of bleach on your hair and attempt a box DIY job yourself, it's just a disaster waiting to happen.

The reason we charge what we do for our colour services, is for our knowledge to give you the correct colour. We won't just pass on that knowledge for someone to "have a go" there are to many factors to take into account.

You can always go to your local collage where they will be happy to do a colour service and a much lower price :) x

Hi - thanks so much for coming back to me - really appreciate it.

Think I'll stick with the salons & steer well clear of the home hair dye kits to avoid a disaster!
