Hi,

I live in the Huddersfield (Yorkshire) area of England. I just had my first ever wax this morning. Although I asked for a Hollywood (all off), the therapist seemed surprised when I said I didn't want a strip leaving, but wanted it all off.....and I mean ALL off!! Even after a couple of refusals when she asked "Is that OK now?..." it still isn't all off (especially round the back, where she didn't touch.....sorry, TMI!!).

I now get the feeling that she was not that experienced in waxing, especially as she gave me no advice on what to do to prep or on what to do after the wax (...which is why I'm now also looking on the net - and here - for advice on what to do about red skin rashes after waxing!).

So my main question is this - how on earth do you go about making sure your therapist is skilled (and experienced) in Brazilian and/or Hollywood waxing? If someone from around the Huddersfield/Holmfirth area IS a skilled and experienced therapist, so much the better!!

Thanks for your time.

A big problem with hollywood and brazilian waxing is that everyone seems to have different definitions of what it entails.

If i were you i would look for a salon with a website that explained what each one included. If you can find a Kim Lawless trained therapist, you will be in good hands.

The only other thing is to ask.
Phone them up and ask them what is included. I have had a few people come in who have complained that other salons said all off, but didn't touch the back.

Did your therapist wipe over with a lotion or oil when she was finished?

You may find that you are a little sensitive and red for about 24 hours. It should just go down on it's own. Avoid heat (hot baths, sauna, sunbed, etc) and perfumed lotions during this time.

xx

Hi FlawlessBeauty. Thanks for the advice. I had assumed that since the website was very professional and gave 2 options - Brazilian, which it labelled as "landing strip" and Hollywood, labelled "all off" - that the Hollywood option was what I wanted, but I take your point.

Thanks for the steer towards Kim Lawless. I see on her website that there is a slot for "Coming Soon! - Kim Lawless Certified Salons and Waxers", so hopefully that may help me out soon with some quality control, though I guess training & "exams" are one thing, skill and experience potentially another. Any idea how long the "coming soon" slot has been on there? Thanks again.
