Home dye help

Hi everyone
I've had a new client come to me (contacted me through text) and tell me she has used a home dye, garnier I believe, and it's turned her hair grey.
Has anyone come across this before?

A little more information would be necessary to understand why this could've happened. Do you know anything about any previous colours she has used? Natural hair colour? Etc?
Also just goes to show the unpredictability of home kits and why you should get your hair coloured in a salon with professional products. X

Maybe she used an intense ash? I had a client who do similar, now I do her colour not the box hehe

Oh those terrible boxes!!
Sounds like she's used a colour with a lot of ash, maybe even left on too long too. Her hair may be slightly damaged and grabbed the ash in the colour! Get her in to take a look. I keep stressing to my clients that just because the woman on the box looks perfect, you won't get that same result x

I say to my clients if you have a white/blank canvas and apply a yellow paint it will come out yelllow but if you apply yellow paint on a black canvas then you will not get yellow. Well the colour in the picture on the box was put on a "white/blank canvas"
Yours is not blank. This is where i come in lol.

I cant understand y people take it into there own hands. I wish there was some way of trying to tell people before aplication. I try and put it on my fb page but no1 listens untill its too late x

Apparently she has used this same box a few times, and this was a refresh. I don't think she's quite telling the truth as what she tells me doesn't add up. Incompatibility and strand tests will be done, but she's also one who doesn't want to pay for a professional to correct it yet too scared to do another box dye. Very difficult lady
