Ok so I have recently moved into a larger home and I have a room that I am going to hopefully turn into my own mini salon (yay![emoji1380])

It needs total redecorating and reflooring (currently has very faded barbie-pink carpet ) and I’m designing it with a cosy but cool mid-century modern kind of vibe to fit in with my 1970s property. Very hip!

However, whilst I’m uhming and ahhing over paint colours and retro sideboards, I know I need to start thinking about what actual practical kit and furniture I need.

So can anyone help me sort out what I need/what will help in a salon, what kind of chairs to look for (something comfortable for long colour sessions but still stylish?) and any other ideas or hacks to help me get my home salon just right!!

Literally ANY help, input or ideas are hugely appreciated, from mirror sizes and trolleys, all the way down to barbicide jars and tint storage![emoji8][emoji8][emoji8]

Before you decorate, make sure you've got your plumbing , heating and plenty of electrical sockets all sorted.
You always need more sockets than you think!

Thank you! It luckily has a tonne of sockets already :) I’m not going to be plumbing in a basin, I’m going to get one of those portable ones and pop it in my kitchen to use, just to keep expenses down a little!!

Id start saving up for that plumbing and basin first. You could decorate it beautifully and give a fantastic service, but a portable basin in thr kitchen is always going to feel cheap. Sorry probably not what you want to hear.

Were you thinking of starting off like this and getting a proper basin in the future?

Pinterest is a really good place to look for things like this if you want inspiration. Make sure you get a chair that is adjustable so you dont hurt your back [emoji4]

A proper basin is a maybe, but no time soon. To be honest I don’t mind if my kitchen basin feels cheap, I’m mostly mobile and have a full clientele so I’m not too worried. They all know my plans so it’s fine!

Adjustable chair is a good shout :) thank you!
