Hi everyone!
I'm a nail geek, but I've just done a facial waxing course with A company and before the course I bought Perron rigot waxes ready to get started, bought warm & hot wax, they sell a hot wax specially for facial waxing.

On my course there was only warm wax to work with and when I asked about being shown the hot wax I was told that hot wax is never used for facial waxing as its too hot & facial skin is more sensitive. But I rented a nail desk in a waxing salon in Manchester for 18mths where the owner was trained by Kim lawless and she herself is accredited to train in waxing and issue certificates. And they use hot wax, so I questioned the educator about this (didn't mention who she was trained by) and the fact that Perron rigot sell a hot wax specially for face so how can be not allowed?

I was told that she wouldnt be covered by her insurance and it should never used on facial areas and if other people train differently than that's up to them but Her company teach that it shouldn't be used.

She also had us use wax equipment cleaner to clean of sticky residue from our faces as she didn't have any of the proper stuff to hand, she said its ok because it's just oil. I read the back and it says not to be used on skin and pointed this out, asked for the proper stuff which she scanned the room for but came back without and we had to carry on using the equipment cleaner.

She also said it was fine to buy wax heaters second hand from eBay and just to get them pat tested. I have never, in any type of training been told to buy from eBay, in general conversation she told us she's found an american supplier for shellac where she gets it for £xx a bottle, they have a website and an ebay shop.
She was saying everything is about keeping your costs down and in regards to the equipment cleaner its all about wether your willing to buy the other things or just use what you already have to save costs. I'm quiet shocked and wondering if I should put a complaint in .
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

Your up early :). This all sounds a bid dodgy to me, I love hot wax for the face and more so for my sensitive clients as it is kinder on the skin with it only sticking to the hair and not grabbing the skin like warm wax sometime can. I'm sure Kim will be on soon to fill you in. Xx

Agreed! Sounds dodgy! As for using wax cleaner to wipe away the residue.... Oh dear! I am shocked! You were right to question all of this and if it were me I would definitely be putting a complaint in! As for buying Shellac off Fleabay, nooooo ! This woman will definitely not be covered by her insurance if this is what she's doing!
Sarah xx

Blimey, we ARE all early burds today!

OK, couple of things here.

Firstly, we don't name and shame on here; could you perhaps take the name of the training company out, please?
Second, Kim will tell you that using Cristal Ocean strip wax is perfectly OK on the face as it's far better at getting out the really fine hair. She says that it's not about the location of the hair but the thickness.
Third, let's not slag off every single last seller on eBay as being dodgy. We have an eBay shop as part of our retail channel to market. We do NOT sell professional only product, merely retail product, and we have a 100% audit trail. If anyone wanted to be sure that what we sell is genuine I would happily show them the invoices from the various manufacturers and distributors. There are LOTS of genuine eBay sellers out there, just as there are way too many dodgy ones. That said, one really shouldn't be selling professional only product to the general public.

Using wax cleaner on the skin is just stupid. It's off licence and that in itself would invalidate her insurance, if indeed she has it...

Load of rubbish! She's said that because they obviously don't use hot wax. She's given you incorrect information.

In actual fact, aside from being gentler on the face, hot wax is cooler than strip wax.

I have removed mention of the Company involved as we do not name and shame on here.
I also feel that this Educator is probably not even following her own companies protocols.
Therefore for that reason if I were the OP I would write and question her procedures during their course with her Head Office.

I totally agree about removing the name of the company btw. I don't like all that. Still wrong information though.

Also, the person that trained with me who is now a trainer isn't allowed to use my technique so you can't compare the way that I wax with theirs. They may no longer be following my procedures.

Thanks for taking out the company name for me, sorry wasn't thinking it was early... Kids woke me up, couldn't sleep and this was on my mind.
I thought the same about hot wax actually being better as it doesn't attach to the skin ect, but strip possibly better for very soft hairs, there was no oil used first either, just cleanse & wax on, I was more than a bit nervous when she did my lip!
Is is normal to not use oil? I have the epilation lotion to cleanse & jasmine oil (then tissue off)
I've been left really confused now.
In regards to eBay I'm not saying all eBay sellers are in the wrong or whatever just that its not generally normal for an educator to advise you to use eBay, I have sold vinylux on eBay myself as it is a retail product. It was just something else that made me question wether I should listen to anything she's said after saying she buys shellac on there, I even said doesn't that invalidate her insurance and she was just talkin about cost ect again .
Would it be fair for me to request a refund to get properly trained elsewhere, I feel it would.
Thanks Kim, I knew you'd know the one lol, i didn't know that doesn't train others with your technique tho, that's good to know. X

Ooh hope I didn't offend. I meant professional only products. :-o xx

I love a hot wax on my face I cant use strip wax apart from my arms and legs.

Wax remover on the face to get rid of the residue?? Oh my days LOL xxx

I just cant get over using wax equipment cleaner on your body... But as ^^^ I would certainly address your issues to the company as you have been given incorrect information. X

I know, and after me telling her I did not want that on my face and wasn't going to use it on anyone else she still didn't get their proper product, my sister is a 'waxer' (what's the name of a person that does just waxing? They didn't tell me this either)
And she is is really annoyed, she wants to ring the company in my name and express her concerns but I said I will do it myself, not received my certificate yet so I need that first.
