Hi this is my first post and I'm hoping you professionals out there can give me some advice, or if any of you are local to the Gloucester area maybe some recommendations. What's the best way to find a good nail technician - I've had a not very good experience with acrylics when I went to somewhere recommended by a friend's daughter - my nails were filed very thin and the damage is still growing out! I like the idea of acrylics as I tend to wear my own natural nails away quite easily for some reason, but I am also curious about the OPI Axxium manicures or something similar. How can I chose a nail technician who is going to do a good job before I make another mistake - any thoughts or advise out there?? Many thanks.

Welcome to Salongeek.

My first recommendation is to stay away from discount salons. Do any of your friends/relatives have their nails done? If so, ask where they go.

Visit a salon before you make the appt. Is it clean? If not, run! Is there a really strong odor? If so, find another salon.

When you call to make an appt., ask what products they use. A good tech will use a professional brand like OPI, CND, etc. Ask if they use OPI Axium.

Best of luck! :)
