How much do you all charge for hair extensions when you’ve only just qualified? Do you do a free fitting if they pay for the hair or do you still charge a small fitting fee? I don’t have any friends or family to practice on once I’ve done my course so I’ll have to go straight to paying clients. I was thinking of offering the first 2 people a free fitting, 2 people half price fitting and then going to full prices. Does this sound ok? Also would you offer a free first maintenance appointment? Thank you [emoji4]

You should still charge a small fee at the beginning around £40/50.Why would you want to work for free?It is a hard job.

I’ve seen posts on here saying that you can’t charge for fitting if you’ve only just qualified and are using the clients to “practice” on. How much should I charge at full price? I’ll be doing NANO rings, celebrity weft and tape extensions

I did my 1st for free, it went well and I felt confident afterwards so for the next 2 people I charged £20. Ive been doing hair extensions 4 years now and charge £50 on top of the hair. I live in a small town with a lot of other techs in the area and some people are charging £120 for a full head of extensions including the hair so I have to keep prices low to get clients.

it's not about "working for free", it's about your confidence, having people to practice on and building your skills. Your work and the time it takes to do the application will reflect your inexperience. Do yourself a favour and do as many free fittings as you can to start with, build up your knowledge and speed and then start charging full price. What's more, if you do a load of freebies and do a good job, chances are you'll be building up your clientele even while you're practising. Too many people go into hair extensions thinking about making money. Of course, you want to earn a living but get your priorities straight, concentrate on doing a good job and the money will come.
