Hi to all hair geekies.

I have a mobile hairdresser that comes to my home and does my hair for me. I payed a visit to sallys to buy some hair colours as I felt like a change. I bought a 90.01 ion blonde silver, I forgot to get the correct colour developer :-/. I was hoping someone could tell me what percent colour developer (and anything else that I might need to purchase), I would need to get the much wanted silvery blonde and the basic method so me and my hairdresser can talk through it (so I can understand what she is telling me). Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Thank you to all.

Hiya,
could you not get that info and advice off your hairdresser? x

Your hairdresser will know what to do.. Just out of interest does she make you provide the colours? Sounds a bit odd to me... :-S

I went to Sallys so I could pick my own colours. She just has a 5% peroxide and I dont think it is strong enough to bring out the silver blonde I bought. I have been told I need my hair stripped off its colour dyed with bleach and then toned to acheive this colour! If I buy my own colours its cheaper when she does it so I can save some money that way.

a 9.01 will not get what you want.

your hairdresser should be telling you what she wants you to buy, if thats your arrangement. but a 9.01 will never get what you want, ever, no matter what peroxide you use with it.

If you want it to go the colour you want then I cannot stress how much you need someone who knows what they are doing..

This may sound harsh but I would have serious reservations about letting someone loose on my hair who asks the client to provide their own colour.

There are so many different things to be taken into consideration when we choose which peroxide, colour etc to achieve a target result. Also of course it just may not be possible for you to get that exact shade you want.

Again not meaning to sound harsh, but you need to discuss your requirements with your hairdresser and she should be able to advise you what is possible.

I hope you get the colour you want :) xx

Hi CherryonTop,

I was just taking a look at your profile before commenting and noticed that you haven't completed your skills yet on your profile. This would assist some geeks in answering some of your questions in future and be better informed of where you are coming from.

Did you actually go to Sally's with your hairdresser? I agree with previous posters it is a bit strange for your hairdresser to be allowing you to pick your own colours, even if it is something they have advised you on.

If this is how she works then all well and good but I've never heard of this before.

but its not working cos a 9.01 is not what she needs!!! I'm just a bit  cos i dont want her ruining her hair by putting that on.

Hi Kimi, I'm not a hairdresser so cannot comment on what colours she is recommending but what I meant by "if this is how she works" I meant in terms of her asking clients to get their own colours, whether she advises them or not.

I will leave the technical information and advice up to you experience guys.

youre stylist.....well all i will say is keep it moving, get rid of her she cant do that you to, making you buy youre own products? youre not the professinal she is, she went to college i hope or did a apprenticeship so she is trained in this, youre not. Anyways you need to bleach youre hair using 12% ( it will hurt like hell) and then put wella 12/89 over with the welloxon pastel, but dont do this unless you know what youre doing, go see a professinal.

12% with bleach on the scalp is highly unadvisable!

The reason it hurts like hell is because it is too strong to be used directly on the scalp..Infact I would rarely (if ever!) use bleach and 12% together.

Do agree with you about the stylist though! Sounds highly suspect!! :)

My hairdresser put bleach with 12% on my scalp to create the silvery blonde but all my neck blistered and couldnt put a brush or hairdryer to my head for weeks and i only hacked 10 mins, they say beauty is pain but not that much pain lol!xx

Sent from my X10i

got to agree I would never use 12% on the scalp!
6% is definitely enough!

I am not a hair pro but a nail pro.
But in any case, I would be dubious to have a mobile hairdresser doing my hair, who makes my buy my own products and then tell her how to do it. She is the professional and should be advising you, not you her.
It is no different from my nail client to go to Sally's, purchase the products needed and then we discuss what i could do with what she has brought!!!!! It's my job to know what she needs and what is right for her not the other way round.
My advise would be find another mobile hairdresser that can do what you what her to do with the right products.
Good luck with finding someone that can gve you the look you would like to acchieve xxxx

Thank you for all taking the time to reply to my post.
Kimi its not a 9.01 its a 90.01 ion silver blonde that I purchased from Sally's.
My hairdresser had ran out of the dye she usually puts on my hair so to save time and money as she doesnt have her own transport I went.
She originally advised me to buy an ash blonde as this is the colour she uses for my roots and she told me all the details of which one to get.
However when I went and looked at the colours I decided I would like a change so picked the silver blonde myself.
I have been trying to locate a different mobile hairdresser but only because the hairdresser I am currently using was not on the hairdressing scene when the grey blonde trend came about.
She is a fantastic hairdresser but I think she is not updated as to the new trends, so for that reason I am hoping to find one that is 'in' on the current hair trends.

Thank you all for your help and advise.
