How to keep clients coming back.

So i’ve been qualified in acrylic and gel nails now for about a year and a half now… i don’t do them all the time or really advertise that i do them much so don’t have regular clients and i also work full time so can only do nails in and evening or on my days off. As i don’t do nails regularly, probably do a set or 2 a month. My acrylic work isn't perfect as i don’t do them enough to perfect my application and it takes me a while to do them probably around 3 hours for an intricate set. I’ve found i will get people who will come to me about 2 times then i will never see them again and they go elsewhere. I know its probably as it takes so long so i can understand that’s why they go elsewhere but i think my work looks decent for the prices i charge. ( £22 for plain acrylics and £25 for nail art or ombre/french nails and for gels (£12 plain and £15 for french or design) these roughly take under an hour for just gels. Has anyone got any advice on how to maintain clients ?? I want to eventually make nails my full time job but seems impossible when i can’t build a client base. I’m going to try paying for some advertisment on facebook and see if this brings in any nee people and i’m going to try practising a but more in my free time to speed up but apart from this any suggestions as it’s really disheartening when i see people who have used me go elsewhere. Your work looks good from what I can see, but the pictures aren't doing you justice. Firstly, the photo - We want to see more of the nails and less of the hands. Either take nice close ups or take the photo from a normal distance and crop so you see mostly nails. Do a quick scroll down Instagram and copy some poses with your clients hands. And then the borders/collages. You're wasting so much of your square on a big white border. Crop the picture to fill the square, rather than downsizing to fit the whole picture into the square.

Your timings will only improve with practice. Have a set routine that you follow everytime. This really helped me stay on track, I'd find myself just sort of floating around thinking of what to do next. Just work down your steps on an imaginary list on your head.

2/3 sets p/m isn't enough practice, as you say. Grab as many family members or friends as you can, and use them. Warn them in advance about realistically how long you're going to need them, and get a full set done, no distractions, no phone, no TV, minimal chit chat and time yourself. Then you've got a time to beat for your next set. Or get yourself two practice hands and do the same. Don't worry about the nail art until your basics are spot on. You can practice nail art in your own time on nail pops.

Post pictures of EVERY set, even if you don't love them. Someone else will. I'm always shocked when I get a new client from posting a set of nails I hate. Everyone has different tastes.
