Hi geeks :),

It's been a while!

Has anyone ever tried to source their own hair extensions?

I currently have a great supplier and the hair is lovely, but the price of the hair to mark up once fitted etc is making it virtually impossible in my area to get any clients .. in my area people use cheaper hair and charge cheaper, no I don't want to be that person ... But I do know for a fact one girl sources her own hair and it's beautiful hair, by doing this her prices are a lot lower than I can afford to charge and the hair itself is nicer than what I can get..

So the question is where to start? Anytime I look it up it comes up with Chinese companies, also Chinese companies claiming they have Brazilian, Indian etc .. Do I trust it isn't just Chinese hair? It's so hard because how can we actually ever trust the ethnicity of the hair we buy and sell unless we source it from that country itself ?
Xx

Tried it, by the time I paid postage and ordered in bulk it was not worth it

I've done it and currently trialling the hair on a few trusted regulars.

It's supposed to be Brazillian, whether it is or not I don't know. But for the price I pay including delivery as long as I get 3-6 months out of it im not bothered as I just advertise it as my budget range.

Your better off buying wholesale from the company you like using now at least you will get discounted rates so you can lower your prices if need be we did and its easier than having the hasstle of sourcing a factory abroad

I dont buy to supply and sell. I buy to stock some in my salon. I get wholesale from a UK supplier its 10% off . does not seem like much but the hair is a good price without the discount. I dont have every colour, I could not afford that. just try and hold the most popular colours. I heard to many horror stories from sourcing your own hair
Then postage is slow or expensive if fast x:(

Oh please share the horror stories! I'm in contact with a supplier in china just now ( I found them , not any of the ones that email me ! ) and they seem so good .. But what do I know when I'm half way across the world lol !?

Who do you order from?
I currently don't offer them in the salon and only do them mobile and as I'm so busy with work and college I don't do many sets so can't afford to pay out for bulk just now but would definitely do it in the future ! Xx

If you source from China/India/Russia, you are not going to get the best deals as you don't reach MOQ Minimum order quantity.

They tend to ignore people who don't meet this high level of order as they deal with bigger clients who spend £££££££ at any given time.

You said Chinese hair is a problem for you and you want Brazilian. If the hair comes from China it wont be Brazilian, it will be chemically treated to curl like their hair pattern.

The problem with hair not lasting is the fact it has been dyed in an acid bath process which means there is no cuticle intact which means the hair eventually goes lifeless.

Remy hair is more expensive and many people aren't providing this kind of hair anymore as its cut in ponytails and braids where as indian remy hair is cut from the scalp and is called fallen hair. The fallen hair is coagulated together creating the cuticles in different directions creating tangles etc.

You are better off getting a trade account with a reputable brand that has good customer service and reliable colours in stock.
