16 years as a cosmetologist and this one client has stumped me. She’s been a client for over 10 years. The last 3 sessions her roots will not, NOT, lift. They turn brassy and nothing works to eliminate it. Today I used 40 volume with olaplex and still brassy. Used Joico Verochrome V9...no change. Used Matrix Brass Off mask....no change!!! None. Nothing. I’m stumped. I’ve always achieved beautiful cool blonde highlights on her. She’s not taking new meds but has thyroid problems and is pre menopausal. I toned her to a darker blonde, Verochrome A7, to cover the brass. No brass but not what she nor I wanted. Any ideas????

So your doing highlights? Are they thin enough to penetrate through the hair ?
Do u mind me asking what product are u using?
I use L’Oréal platine- and it lifts up to a beautiful crisp blonde!
Has she used any different hair products that maybe left a residue on the hair?
(I’m not been rude with the questions just as baffled as u are) x

Yes highlights and very thin sections/strands. And I’m using Wella Blondor. She has been using t-gel shampoo and olive oil for dry scalp. Maybe it’s the culprit. Idk.

There’s your answer. Her body is obviously undergoing major hormone changes at the moment which will undoubtably affect her hair and skin. I wouldn’t use 40vol on the scalp. That’s just asking for trouble.

It was in foil. Not directly on the scalp. And if you have never used Olaplex, you should. It’s a game changer when it comes to highlights. There’s no trouble if you monitor your client. Thanks for the input.
