I posted not long ago about training when already having an NVQ2 beauty therapy. Someone kindly replied that they doubted that I would get funding if already in possession of an NVQ2. Which does make sence!

BUT...the lady came into work, and interviewed me, and I will be getting funding! So I will be training where I work. My friend has an NVQ 3 in beauty therapy...and cannot go down an qualification...so she is skipping straight to NVQ3 hairdressing.

I am a bit scared actually!!! I need to start buying the kit needed. Expensive!x

Good on you girl!! Are you doing a level 2?? Is your training at college? Just asking cause I am doing a level 3 in nails and would like to do level 3 in hair also.

Yep, it is a NVQ2! :) It's not at college, you need to have a work placement and be trained by your employer, and then an external assessor will come in and assess your work. It is minimum 16 hours a week. They are training my friend in a NVQ3.

They used to be called Ultra, but they have recently changed over, and are now called GP (skills training) or something like that. Your employer needs to write a letter saying they need to learn hairdressing for their business. This is what I have seen so far.

I will update how it goes, and when I know more about the company I will post again also! x

Thanks for that info. I will have to look out for something in my area (south Yorkshire). Fingers crossed
