Hello everybody, looking for a bit of advice, I have been qualified in NVQ level 2 Beauty for a year and I am a mobile therapist who offers NVQ level 2 treatments and Shellac. I am hoping to do more treatments as and when.

Business is good, so good that I have handed in my notice and I will be full time beauty (well sort of, fitting round kids etc) from mid July.

I am really pleased with my treatments and I have a good repeat business. However, I know I am undervaluing myself, compared to my competitors my prices are on the low side. Also, when some client's say to you, your prices are cheap, you know you have to do something!

I increased my prices by a £1.00 in January and I would like to increase my prices by £1.00-£2.00 for the second half of the year.

Do you think that it is acceptable to increase again? Would it alienate my existing clients? Any help, advice, wording that anyone could give me would be a great help.

And the morale of the story, don't start with cheap prices, easy to reduce them but not put them up! :lol:

I know what you meen, but check out your competition then adjust your prices, what you may find that some clients will go elsewhere but then come back if they are happy with the service from you, most clients (if geniune) will understand if they want a quality service and products used they will have to pay just an extra £1 to £1.50 after all there is not a lot you can buy for a £1 may be a choc bar lol. Dont worry true clients will stick by you provided you service stays the same.:)
 
As you have a mid July date in mind I would use this as your official launch date as you will from this date be a full time therapist and treatments will be paying your bills.

I would get nice new price lists and such drawn up for the this time and make a bit of a fuss about it being exciting that you are doing it. Then your new price list can have sustainable prices on it.

Those regulars who have been paying lower should understand once you explain that beauty is now your main business and it pays your bills. Most will respect that you have to make a living. Those bargain hunting will leave, but you couldn't sustain yourself with their business anyway in the future if they were only willing to pay cheap.

You are talking about your career and source of income for the future, so make sure that come July you are charging a price that means you can sustain your business.

You could please all your regulars and be broke in a few months, or lose a few and gain a bunch of well paying clients in the future. My guess is, the majority will pay.
