Hi, Im a few months into my Beauty Therapy course studying level 2, we've just about covered all of manicure. I'm loving nails the most i think so far, but find it the hardest! I'm finding polishing the nails tricky, wondered if anyone has any good tips or advice for geting a nice finish.....Im also struggling with the French tips....would be greatful for any advice  x

Don't worry practice makes perfect!!

I felt like that when I done my course a few years ago, but with practice I've mastered it!

Good luck!

Thanks, Im trying to practise all i can on myself!

Hi Jen_N

(this is my first SalonGeek post - YAY!)
Unfortunately I think polish just takes practice. What I did in my training was I got an old rubber glove, filled it with sand (you could use whatever you have lying around) and then I super glued some cheap stick on nails like the ones you get at boots on to the fingers. Then I just bought a cheap but dark colour to practice painting... Id just remove the colour and keep practicing until my painting improved.
You could do the same with practicing french... all though I use a cue-tip or a lip brush with firm bristles soaked in nail polish remover to tidy up any nicks or uneven lines on my clients.
Anyways, I hope this helps (or give you ideas at least :) )

Thanks, thats a really good idea!

practice practice practice!!!

a few tips though would be not to have too much polish on your brush, start in the middle of the nail half way down and push brush down to hyponichium then paint upwards. then polish either side and then go over any bits that are missing.

for french there are so many different ways you can do, i personally sweep across from one side to the other and then tidy up xx
