Help please confused and just a bit scared!!

I have coloured my hair for over 10 years now using Indola Professio 1000.0 ever since my then proffesional hairdresser moved to Austalia.
She worked in a top salon but did my hair at home and when she left she told me what to buy.
I am very happy with the colour but recently I changed my cutting stylist and she commented that I have hair damage on the crown. I must admit I do but it's not too bad at all but I obviously don't want it to go any worse.
My hair is in a generated bob with the back being layered. I have very fine hair, with my roots at the front now grey (I'm 60) with graduating greyness wwith the back still being very dark brown (my original colour).
She asked me what product I used and when I told her she said it was a bleach and she would never use bleach on her own hair. (her hair is lovely, same style as mine but with hi & lo lites but she is a natural blond)
She said you just cannot overlap with my product which obviously I knew and always try not to. However I do find the crown bit difficult..well and the back but I use mirrors etc.
She said why don't I switch to a product without bleach and suggested I try Wella Koleston Perfect 12/0 and 12/11 mixeds as she says you can overlap with this product so would be safer. But she said I would not get the same colour as now as it would not lift a much but I could have hi lites & lo lites every so often to achieve a lighter effect.
This sounded ok to me so I have bought the Wella products but am confused. They seem to contain ammonia to me.
Worried my roots will go orangey??
Also last week I decided to do my roots but stick with my Indolo as I still had some product but I was that paranoid I made the worse job I've ever done. While it's certainly livable, no one would notice the effect really except fussy me!! The back is a bit patchy with the roots being still quite dark in parts but lighter in others. So not even to see like a regrowth so I'm bothered about trying to do them as I don't want to put product on the browny roots trying to get them the same colour as the old and now regrowth roots..If you get me? Sorry
So to recap..I am asking the differece between the 2 products and redoing the roots now.
I must add the new stylist is excellent and wasn't after me spending more money with her(she has been my sisters stylist for years)
Also the reason I do it myself is simply convienience, ok its far far cheaper but money is not a big issue for me but I travel a lot and also hate roots so like to do it every 3 wks or so.
Sorry its so long but hope someone can help.

CHRIST!!! I have nothing to say to this apart from, STOP! I recommend you visit a wella salon, have it done properly. Also get some redken CAT treatment masque!.

It is always best to have a professional colour your hair. Those products are designed for pro use ONLY. Indola profession in the shade 1000.0 or any of the highlift tints do not contain bleach. The colour that has been recommended to you is the same that you are already using its just a different brand. Cant believe you were told it contains bleach.....
