I have been having my hair done at a salon for about 9 months now and am just not happy with what they are doing.

Today I have had highlights which are not what I wanted. Since I have been going there after about 3 weeks my hair becomes brassy and yellowy/gold. I have three different blondes, one is bleach the others high lift ? I think. Not a hair pro so have no idea ! This has never happened at any other salon I have been to although im pretty sure I just had bleach at the others as my hair always seemed to be in poor condition.

Anyway im annoyed because there seems to be more yellow and gold than normal. I like white blondes and as I am naturally very dark it seems to suit me better than golden colours. She used a different toner on it this time which I have been charged for. I Always have toners yet ive never been charged before. Is this normal ? The total cost was £92 for half head of highlights and a blow dry which for a colour im not happy with is a lot of money.

I want to change salons now so should I look for one that uses particular colour ranges or just pick one at random !

Hi

from a salon owners point of view we really do want to hear if our clients are unhappy. We cant fix it unless we are told. Its vital that you communicate with them in order to sort this out.

We always get clients straight in to sort the problem, regardless if its our fault or not.

It would have to be an extreme situation that we just simply refunded your money or did nothing about it.

They might suprise you.

If however you feel you cant do this and feel your only option is to go elsewhere then word of mouth is the best way to go, ask your friends and family where they go.

Hello, if you are naturaly dark, then the only thing that will get you up there with the white blondes is bleach. Maby they are trying to save the condition bye using hi lift tints and its not getting you up there to the level of blonde you want. I would go back to the salon and tell them your concerns. Im sure they would be happy to help. Let us know how you get on. xxx

As stated above, as an owner, I would appreciate you coming back and expressing the issue. Some feel when they dont get the right communiction or end result from their stylist, that its the end of the road or time to switch.
A different consultation with a different stylist can result in a completely different service! I always ask that my stylists communicate with one other person in the shop before starting their color, as two heads are better than one! Especially when it comes to blonding.
Please go back and ask to consult with another stylist. As long as you are not rude or offending, the owner wants you to leave satisfied.
On another note, toning is an added service that comes with a charge. It guarantees the shade you choose over just bleaching and being lighter. It should prevent your hair from doing what you just said it did. You should be getting a free redo.

Agree with the others. Go back.

Thanks for your replies.

I should of mentioned that since I have been going there my hair is in much better condition. I did query if that was because they were using less bleach and if so I was happy to accept it may not be my ideal shade of blonde as I didn't want to compromise the condition as im growing it for my wedding next year.

I will give them a call but think im going to find another salon as since ive been going ive never walked out loving my hair and I really am not happy about having to pay extra for toner. I go every 6ish weeks and have never been charged for it until today and its not on the price list. If I was doing a facial then decided to add in an extra mask or something I wouldn't say to the client, heres an extra £12 charge because your skin needed an extra treatment. If they had said to me that my hair would be orange without the toner then id either of not had my hair done or accepted the charge no questions.

They also NEVER check the colour after ive had a blow dry or cut :irked:

You always must go back and express the problems you have as this could be a hairdresser who's maybe still learning about colour and if so then she needs to find the answer to making you happy with the outcome and two getting a brighter result from putting hi lights in. I would turn your complaint or query in to something positive and look at it as an education for your hairdresser the next time you go in. I know from 16 years ago a lady came back in the salon saying she wanted her hair colour toned down so It made me then ask some clients ie:how bright do you like your hilights or did they want more brown and her coming back was an education rather than a complaint.
