I have an interview with Steiner Leisure in a month I am so excited yet im so nervous... I have to do a massage and a mini facial when I am there so i hope i do ok in them, Can anyone give me any tips and pointers on what i should be doing?

I really want this job and don't want to mess it up. Has anyone worked for them in the past?

Just think of them as a client, and treat them as you would a client. Don't try and do anything fancy you don't normally do in treatments - just go through your regular routine. Take your time and remember to breath.

Good luck!!

Thanks thats a good point I sometimes forget to take a breath in when im concentrating....lol Im not too bad when do facials etc its when i do nails and come to painting them that i don't breathe lol..

and don't stick your tongue out when concentrating!!!! LOL

Go in with a positive, cheery disposition. Be professional, give good client care. When you do the treatments, just switch off, treat them like a client in your usual environment and don't talk to them unless you have too.

What they will be looking for is how you carry yourself, your bedside manner and your time-keeping, they won't want to employ someone who runs over. You will also be reliant on commision, so perhaps plug a few products at the end.

Keep your work area clean and tidy, and don't use too much product, they will be looking for cost-effectiveness.

Good luck.

Hey

I used to work for Elemis which is connected to Steiner.

I would say,

1) wash your hands before the treatment.
2) do a facial analysis
3) rememeber to tell your client what you found after the facial and massage
4) always check their comfort, warmth and that the pressure is fine.
5) Be friendly but no familiar
6) make sure you have make up on including lip gloss - also that your hair is tied back neatly.
7) Elemis were real sticklers for a neat, tidy, clean, ironed uniform.
8) if toes are out ensure they are painted a nice inoffensive colour.

I think thats most of the things, obviously along with polite manners, and confidence when speaking.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine - some candidates wouldnt even bother asking other people for help so you're already one step ahead!!

Also

- dont wear any dangly earings, plain studs only
- no rings, bracelets or necklaces
- make sure you smell clean but not of overpowering perfume
- you fingernails are neat, short and unpainted.

Sounds harsh I know, but I hate going to a salon and the therapist is done up to the nines. It looks so unprofessional.

I never wear jewelary for work anyway... It just gets in the way so dont bother.. And always tie hair back it does my head in if its in face lol

Thanks all for your help, I will try to put into practice what you have all said and let you know what happens.

Hi,I think one of the crucial things they are looking for when carrying out a massage as part of a trade test is fluency in movements and a nice firm pressure.

As for the facial it's only a mini one, they will be looking to see again your fluency in massage and probably want to see that you can give a correct skin analysis.

Steiner do their own training so all their treatments are exactly the same, try not to worry too much,as others have said ,remain calm, smile look clean and professional(which goes without saying anyway:lol:)I do know they expect an excellent appearance so make sure your make-up and hair and nails are immaculate.(I'm sure they are anyway:hug:)

Good luck and I justbe yourself without worrying too much.Let us know how you get on.xxx
