Hi hair geeks, I'm a trained beauty therapist but would really like some advice from hair geeks plz.
So I've been going grey since 19 and have always coloured my hair since it became noticeable around 25.I used to get it done by a relative who was a professional mobile hairdresser, without any problems. She immigrated about two years ago so I started using box dyes and just going to hairdressers to get a cut. Anyway, I was sick of the faff and the colour being too dark and too warm.
So I went to my hairdresser and asked for dark blonde/light brown without warmth.I got T-bar highlights and she mixed majirel 6 and 7 and done an all over tint, advising me when I get the roots done I can just go for a 7 if the 6+7 was a bit too dark (it was but still nice!) I got my roots done a few weeks later and went for just 7 but when I got in I realised that there was a patch along my parting that was translucent. I told her this at my next appointment thinking she would just leave it on a bit longer but instead said I'd have to have level 6 as only a darker shade would cover the resistant grey, when she was applying it she said she's also mixed in 6.1 to aid coverage. Anway tbh I really didn't. Like the result I'm pale with pinkish skin and and it just looked harsh and my face looks ruddy. I used vosene a few times to fade it and also cut a fringe in so the highlighted hair would be near my face instead of the too dark roots.
I'm so sorry for the long, rambling thread but bascally Ibwant to know is she wrong in telling me I can't just go for level 7 and isn't there another .someting that she could mix in to eradicate the warmth? Getting my roots done again next week but feeling so depressed about what I'm being given as shade choices and my new ugly fringe! Any advice much welcomed xx

Anybody? I know the first post is a bit of an essay lol! To make it easier, the question is on 70% white roots where level 7 najirel looks a bit translucent what can be done to assist full coverage, is going to level 6 the only option?

She could try using neat tint 7 on the resistant parts before she applys the mixture this should help x

You can't really go to your stylist and tell them what to do..
But yes you can go lighter, 2 shades lighter, and it should still cover.
Have you asked for no warmth at all?
How much grey have you got? Percentage wise? And whats your natural colour aside from the grey?

Hi, thanks for the replies. Yeah I was wondering how I'd be able to suggest it to her! I just want to be happy with the result, I did tell her I don't want any warmth. I think it clashes with my skin tone, my natural colour is light brown/dark blonde and was ashy toned I reckon I'm at least 70% white now though and I just want to cover that with a natural looking tint, don't mind looking lighter but definitely don't like it too dark cos it always looks too harsh next to my pale skin.

U can go as light as u want with a tint. if u have resistant hair then they should use an intense tint. Koleston covers grey/white really well.

She could try pre softening if you're hair is very resistant but as said above you obviously can't tell her what to do..
