Hi everyone.
Ive noticed that my gelish polish isn't lasting as long on my nails as it used to. My clients havnt complained at all and never come back with chips etc. It's just my nails and usualy just the same one.

I used gelish all the time on my own nails and they always stayed on for ages, then I decided to have hard gel nails which really damaged my nails, now my gelish doesn't stay on for long. I have one finger that will lift after one to two days.
I've got some structure gel, but don't find it actually strengthens my nails.
I sometimes put four coats of colour on if it's a light colour, so all together I have 6 coats of polish on, is this to thick so could cause lifting?
How many layer can you put on before it becomes to many? And does structure gel count as a layer?

Also I've changed the way I 'cap' my own nails, I kept reading that it's not called capping and that you don't actually have to do it. So I brush is over the nail and bring it down over the free edge instead of brushing it across. (This is hard to explain sorry). Will this make a nail lift if you havnt sealed it the right way? Or is it true that it doesn't need sealing?
Can filing the nail after the gel polish is done make it lift?
Sorry for all the questions, I've been trained in manicuring and have done a one day gel polish course but don't feel this is enough so I'm starting a part time course next week. But like I said I havnt had any trouble with my clients, it's just my own nails, usually the left middle finger, I even wear gloves now when using acetone based products.
Sorry for all the questions and how long this is to read and if it's badly written.
Thank you in advance. 😊.

It may be that you are putting your hand too far into the lamp and the middle finger is not curing properly. Which lamp are you using?

I had issues with two fingers lifting, but narrowed it down to my foundation that I applied with those. I have since started using gloves and the lifting has vanished.

Edit: I mean that I was applying my make up (foundation) with that hand and that was causing the gelish to lift.

Generally I use three coats of colour plus the foundation and top it off so the more coats could be the reason but if it's only happening on one finger then I don't think it'll be that. I always cap mine the same way you do, more like a tapping than a sweep? When you don't have the gelish on, does your middle finger tend to break/peel or show any other kind of weaknesses?

Ah does it effect it if you put your hand to far in? I put my hands really far in the lamp. My lamps a frauline (I think that's how you spell it) 36ww uv lamp.

My nails are really weak, they're really bendy. Even with gelish on they're still quite bendy. My middle one is the worst, specially on the side that it lefts. But they're not really dry or peely. Before I start using gel my nails would break all the time.

Girls, I am also having this problem where Gelish is lasting less and less on myself :( I just had to redo 3 nails about two days ago and one has already chipped! This nail is damaged and weak (right middle finger) it's really getting annoying and embarrassing, turning up tplo client's houses with nails chipped and missing! Xx

I've tried structure gel and acrylic underneath but I can see my nail curling away from it after only a few days :(
