Hi, I'm not a pro hair person but I like taking care of my hair. I have really fine thick hair down way past my back bra strap ( idea of length) and I'm sick of straight hair but when I curl it it drops about an hour later. Any ideas or help great full thanks x

Do you straighten your hair before you curl it? Do you have layers in your hair?

Fine thick hair??? You could do with some long layers. But some peoples hair unfortunately does not hold the curl

No I just dry it then section and curl. Yeah fine as in silky texture and thick as in a lot of it. Makes it really awkward to do anything with it. Yeah got long layers in which I also have a lot of the weight took out. Tried short layers too. Just to add to the fun I have a double crown at the back that hurts and a cowlick at the front. X

Aahhh right. Ive found with fine hair... (I have it myself) the shorter layers make holding in style or volume worse. I know alot of people probably dont like it but I put loads of mousse in my hair before drying it. Makes it a bit stiffer and obviously helps hold style

What products are you using?

Kms do a range called FreeShape designed to work with heat tools- shampoo conditioner heat spray with hold

If your hairs silky it's isn't going to hold curl

I know. It's so annoying , get sick of having straight hair. Was thinking about something like the new babyliss heated brush?

Try adding the curl *whilst* you're drying - try a round brush and keep twirling as you dry and it will help the curl stay in a bit longer :)

I have tried that but I struggle to get the length on the brush and control it at the same time. Thing I'll just stick to a messy bun then shaggy hair x

Have been following this with interest. My hair is the same, fine but absolutely loads of it and noone seems to be able to style it. Inknow I certainly can't! I've currently got long layers and have it thinnes out but nothing seems to work. I really feel for you! I can't even keep a messy bun in or wear a ponytail that doesn't sag!

It's a bittersweet burden. I love my long thick locks when they're down and in control but due to working and dancing I have to have it up a lot of the time which pretty much results in a semi facelift. I would never cut it of but I go between different fringes to alter it. So frustrating x

Search curling hair with a flat iron....my co-worker puts crazy staying curl in impossibley difficult hair with a flat iron. It gets so hot for setting the curl in hair with a punch! She holds the iron a particular angle, starts @ roots in standard sections, & runs it through @ a particular angle....Its amazing to watch her do this! I think she twists her wrist slowly while pulling the hair through the iron too.
