Hi all, I've been a lurker on this forum for a long time, such an amazing resource!

I have a bit of a burning question for you all and would love your expert advice.

I used to be a platinum blonde and coloured my own hair for years.

The toner I always used was L'oreal Luocolour in PO1, which worked perfectly to give me that platinum silvery look.

My question:

I have recently had my hair slightly toned down by adding in a few subtle lowlights in my natural light brown colour, so that now when it comes to doing my roots, the roots are only highlighted rather than every single hair being bleached, giving a more natural look (and saving my hair!)

I'm finding that although my hair is still blonde, I'm not getting that silvery, platinum look I love so much at the hairdresser (it looks far too golden, which doesn't suit me!) and so I would like to take matters into my own hands and put some Luocolour PO1 on it, but I'm worried about what this will do to the brown in my hair, both the stuff that's been dyed brown (that used to be platinum) and the natural brown sections near the roots.

The last thing I want to do is turn the brown bits ginger or something, not a good look!

Can anyone let me know whether it's ok to use PO1 over all my hair/what the effect might be on the brown? I will do a strand test but I'd love to hear your insights.

A hairdresser did actually use this all over my hair once and the result was great, but I don't know what volume releaser she used - I'm worried that the 25 volume will be too strong.

Sorry for the loooong message! I really appreciate you guys reading this far!

are you planning on doing this yourself? your profile says you are not a hair professional....?

Hi, thanks for your reply, I get my hair done in a salon these days, but yes I was planning to add the luocolour myself. I never seem to get the colour I want at the hairdressers,it is never silvery enough, despite me always reiterating that I don't want golden tones!

I dyed my own hair platinum for years so I do have quite a bit of experience but no I'm not a trained professional....

It would be great to know that if my hairdresser doesn't get my colour silvery enough, that i can add some luocolour at home and fix it, rather than being stuck with it or having to complain...

I got my roots done last week and once again, It's all too golden....im used to having white hair and so I'm not happy!

Anyone used luocolour on highlights as a toner?

Po1 is great for toning full head but I wouldn't recommend it on highlights as it will lift your natural hair slightly!

Thanks so much for your reply, I never saw it until now! Thought everyone was ignoring me as didn't get an email notification!

Many thanks :) x
