Hi ladies,

I use CND Shellac and I bought the Magpie dust in Aurora. I also bought the madam glam no wipe top coat as I got told the dust needs to be used with a no wipe top coat. So I do the no wipe top coat, apply the dust with a sponge and then I do a double top coat of CND original top coat and I have had issues where the chrome is coming away from all the edges, like literally looking like its rubbing off? Does anyone have any advice as I would love to master it! TIA! x

Hi!, okey so the problem is that you are applying the No wipe top coat first which is obviously a fast drying gel that leaves no residue which means it is not give the dust anything to stick too, so do your gel polish as normal but instead of applying the top coat over the tacky layer of the cnd use the sponge to apply the powder directly over the tacky layer of CNd .. then apply your no wipe topcoat and some cutile oil and that's you good to go (also you shouldn't need to topcoat twice but you can if you feel the need too) I have also used this product with normal topcoat and it's worked to) :)

I found this happened when I first started using chrome powders etc, it was just that I wasn't fully capping round the cuticle area! I just started being much more vigilant especially with powders to make sure I was getting topcoat to cover every inch of the powder! Hope this helps! [emoji5]️

Hey,

thanks so much for your advice.

I have tried using the sponge to rub Aurora in to the colour but it just doesn't go holographic and goes dull and grey. Any ideas why that is? xx

Aurora does need to go on top of a no wipe top coat. Here is a trick, apply no wipe, then Aurora, then base coat then top coat xx

Aurora and other chrome dusts are burnished into a no wipe top coat.

You could be applying too much.
I only use the tiniest amount. I prefer using a foundation wedge sponge so I can dab it in the lid then I fold the sponge over to reduce the amount even more then I gently dab that on and use a clean bit to burnish it in.
That's how little you need to use x
