Hi I'm a hair geek and although I wear makeup everyday when it comes to nights out I'm rubbish at doing it.

Are there any courses for consumers (I've got no intention of becoming a make up artist)?

I'd like to know how to do a good smokey eye without looking like I've been punched 🙈 and upto now there's no way of try contouring but maybe a course could teach me the basics

Hi

We offer beauty days, so basically a day doing make up, waxing, facials, massage etc for qualified therapists who need a little refresher.

A day course may be a bit much and a bit expensive just for smokey eyes, but have you looked at a local salon for make up lessons?
We do a session called "make up bag overhaul" where we work through what you've got helping you get the best from it but also helping with application tips and filling any gaps for you.

If you do go to a local salon, try and pop in and see if they use a reputable brand and look like they know what they are doing. I've seen some horrors over the years!

You tube also has some great tutorials but I personally think you can't beat hands on.

You can book a make up lesson in MAC. I think it's £50 for the hour and the cost of the lesson is offset against any products purchased. It's great if you want to learn one skill in particular as the MUA does one side of your face and you copy on the other so practical as well.

Thank you all.

How obvious to ask a beautician or makeup counter 🙈😳

I'll try them. Definitely didn't want to do an indepth course just to have a night out lol.

Illamasqua offer short courses, but generally any Mua will be able to teach you how to do a simple smokey eye it's not as hard as you think! X

Many makeup artist offer 1:2:1 makeup lessons, it maybe worth contacting a few I'm your area to see what they offer and how much the charge.
