As a man that gets extensions and is also a nail tech, I feel I can help as Ive had experience.
Mens nails are generally wider than womens, so depending on the tips you use, they may not be quite wide enough to cover the nail, touching both sidewalls (Especially and mainly on the thumbs!)
Mens nails also generally do not have much of a natural arch, so more sculpting and a slightly thicker/wider apex is a good assurance.
Mens nails can also have a bit more oil production, and Ive found that acrylic has more staying power than gel. Even with strong gel enhancements I can only keep them on for 1-2 weeks, and techs will also build the arch a bit thicker so more product is covering the entire surface area of the nail, but when I have had acrylics, they have been less thick, and more "natural looking" and I was able to keep the nails on with no lifting or cracking for up to 6 weeks!
Basically, the trick to keep male enhancements (or anybodys) from service breakdown, can either be the extensions used (Tips vs. Forms) or the product (Hard gel, acrylic, fibreglass, etc.) as each system has its pros and cons.
Hope I helped!
