Hi just wanted to double check about performing a manicure and pedicure on a client at 34weeks pregnant.

I have already contacted my insurance and they just stated check manufacturers guidelines.
I have also looked at the MSDS of the brands I use and opi has traces of Formaldehyde therefore reluctant to use the polish but happy to use scrub and mask. I am happy to use Shellac or Vinylux as the MSDS look ok but also aware client would need to remove shellac if was rushed in to deliver her baby. Also aware not to have water very hot and avoid massage especially ankles, ventilation...........
Is there any other things I have missed ?

It sounds fine, if you've checked your data sheets and with your insurance company. I would steer clear of shellack or any other gel polish as if she has to go into hospital and ends up in theatre they won't want any type polish on at all so needs to be quick and easy to remove. I was doing my mani/pedi course when I was 36 weeks pregnant and was a model for the other students the whole way through, they said it was fine. I think it's a great service to offer pregnant ladies, especially pedicures x

Oh also as far as I was aware massage is fine, I had lots of leg and foot massages and it helped reduce the swelling in my legs!

I was always taught no foot massage in the first and last trimester. Painting toes is fine though.

Lol. You aint gotta do all that!

Pure do you know why no foot massage and first or last trimester? I've not heard this, did they tell you why?

It’s the principle of reflexology, there are points on the soles of the feet which can bring on contractions.
This is what I was taught and the advice I always followed.

Hi,

Our UK Callus Peel can be used during pregnancy and on diabetic clients to remove all calluses.

Gel polish should be fine just stick with lighter colors - I just had surgery they had zero issues with my gel polish with a lighter color.
