Hi,
I am an Olaplex user, though a friend of mine suggested me to try the equivalent product from Matrix: Bond Ultim8. Has anyome used it? Any opinions? I love Olaplex but i would like and a cheaper alternative to have as well.
Thanks a lot

If you are looking to get the same results as with Olaplex, I would stay using Olaplex. Its the only product with the patents proving it works the way they say, and I would be very hesitant to put anything else on my guests. (not hesitant, I just wouldnt do it lol) Also, some people havent heard that the directions have shifted a bit, to where you use 1/2 the amount first suggested. This way, you get way more uses from your bottle, make 2x's the money, and there is no time increase or developer bump! Attached are the new guidelines!

I have read and used the new quidelines. I am really satisfied with Olaplex and I am willing to stay there, as the results are perfect and with the new inatructions, unbeatable. Just asking random opinions about stuff that i see running on the marker. Thanks for the help.

Hi I use bond ultim8 as I am a matrix salon its great . Olaplex was the first on market so to the fans everybody else has copied. But I will be sticking with ultim8 !

Sawpaw is right, since Olaplex has been released, tons of copy products have hit the market, and I have tried a good amount of them, testing them against Olaplex, with far from acceptable results either at time of service, or after washing the hair a few times (coating wears off with the shampoo process) The idea may be copied, but the technology can not be. 8 world wide patents made sure of it ;)

So I'm actually a Matrix Artist....and these two products work differently. I like to describe it like a bandaid vs a shin guard. Olaplex is a bandaid..the damage is already happening. Bond Ultimo is like a shin guard, blocking damage from happening at all. I have used them both, and I tend to stock both. Each client has a unique situation and certain products work better for certain situations. Also, I have clients who request certain products so I like to just give them what they want. (within reason, of course. WE are the professionals.) This is why consultations are key in every situation. I also consider the pH of the products...Olaplex is around an 8 or 9, which is an Alkaline. Bond Ultim8 is an acidic pH, closer to the hair's natural pH level. If you put Olaplex into direct dyes (just for example) your direct dyes may not come out as well as they would. The alkaline product does not play well when mixed with an acidic dye. Bond Ultim8 is a better choice in this situation. Hope that helps some
