Wouldnt you recomend somethign longer to do, is this the only course you did ? ive been looking at a full years uni course or something, or do you think it would be a waste of time ???
thanks
Yes they do full time aswell and I know that the academy sends you on placements everywhere. I did elstree studios, park street in St Albans depends on what college/uni you go to. Some placements your required to stay till your course finishes and it really depends what type of tv/ media you want to go into. I did news readers and reporters and travelled with news correspondents to Cannes France. Afghanistan Etc. Another question you've got to ask yourself are you willing to travel with media as I did or are you wanting to work for tv on home turf. Now I'm working with correspondents and diplomatic services with Surrey when appointed. I've also just finished working on some celebs at the Brits and I feel privileged. I trained for 4 years in tv & media hair not make up.

Where do you want to train or study? Hair and make-up are key elements in the overall design of films, creating a look that is appropriate for the characters and time periods. A team of Assistants usually work in the department(s), and there may also be Trainee positions.
Personals are Make-up Artists and Hairdressers working exclusively on a particular performer. Dailies work on a day-to-day basis, normally on crowd scenes. Hair and Make-up department members work indoors on the production in trailers, buses, dressing rooms, and on-set, or outdoors on location.
As there is a demand for personnel with both Hair and Make-up skills, it is advisable to choose a course or training programme that includes components of both disciplines. Practitioners may have worked in a related field such as television, theatre, fashion or commercials. Entry-level practitioners may have taken part in an apprentice-style scheme to gain their foundation skills, or they may enter the department as Trainees. If they make a good impression on senior staff during their placement they may be called back to work as a Daily or an Assistant on another production.
Progression through the department is usually based on skills and experience. Personality and the right attitude are also extremely important. Experience is gained through on-the-job training, while assisting established Make-up Artists and Hairdressers. Film Make-up and Hair Department personnel work on a freelance basis, and must be prepared to travel.

I do know skillset do have a website and waste no time in writing to tv production companies to ask if you can assist for watch what goes on when on set and cuts. The cut shots will be where you have to be on the ball. I'd say pull out all the stops to impress.
I've got to say though hair and make up in tv and media your only more likely to either do one or the other rarely both as I was good at hair and not make up so I stuck to hair. As a certain celeb said to me "you can't be good at both your either a singer or an actor" and how right these wise words spoke! Good luck and getting writing.
