I have changed jobs so I can work closer to home and nicer hours so I can complete my nail course. But Im working in a supermarket on the fruit and veg section, loads of lifting and no matter how careful I am I always seem to break my nails. I used to have lovely nails! At the moment they are natural, but jsut wondering once Im qualified and seeing clients, it wont be very good turning up with horrible nails. As I will be starting off part time with nails, I will still have to work at supermarket. Do you think I can wear l&ps without them getting damaged and breaking, and still looking good?!

Well I can only speak from personal experience, but the enhancements are a LOT STRONGER than my own nails. If I was doing your job I would also be looking at wearing some kind of protective gloves whilst at work, maybe some fine latex ones, which will at least keep all the muck and dirt away from your lovely enhancements. Cleaning under the free edge if there is dirt under them is a bit tricky, but nothing that a good old scrub with a nail brush wont sift, but it would be better if you are not having to do this every day. Fine gloves would be a help.

Thats a good idea, they have given me fridge gloves as it can be cold, but they are huge on me. Going to put them on hot wash to try and shrink them though! Better get qualified pretty quick so I can work it full time!

Glad I could help Hannah. Why dont you go and ask them for a smaller size fridge gloves that fit you properly. You could always say its a Health and Safety issue as the big ones dont allow you to hold large items safely. Companies dare not risk Health and Safety laws these days, tooooo risky.

Good luck in your endeavours to become a nail tech. I am sure you will love the courses.

Dont see why you wont be able to wear enhancements. If I were you, I would when the time comes, but keep them short. Shrink those gloves and use them to do your tasks at work!
Goodluck for the future.

Why don't you just keep them short for now. my mate works in a supermarket and she breaks her enhancements lifting heavy boxes. I think short clean nails can be just as nice as long ones. Whack some SuperShiney on them. x
